I wasn't sure, i saw the add but didn't know what manufacturer. Is this an electric warbird or IC plane?

The mustang is not a Razorback. The Razorback term is only for the P-47. The goof that went to press with this so early with the magazine is probably the same goof that put the Razorback text on the picture.

Hey, at least its a B model. We have been saying for years to please make a B model if you absolutely have to make another Mustang. Looks like we got our wish. It has great features too. Wish I had a more dedicated field to fly at with one but I am more of a parking lot pilot.

This might be a good donor plane with the gear from the platinum AT-6. Cant wait to see the specs on it. The size is nice.

I'm glad they finally did the Razorback version. When they re-released the giant scale mustang I was hoping it was a Razorback instead of the common bubble top.

OP...I have to ask since I just don't know....why is the razorback a term only used on the P-47 and not the P-51 ???..

It seems that a "Razorback" version of the P51 exists

I will be happy to elaborate.

Take a look at this picture, see how the fuselage area behind the canopy curves in and goes up to a point? Razorback was given to the P-47 because the back of the fuselage came up like the back of a Razorback Pig.

This is why you don't see F6F Razorback and F4F Razorback.

Razorback is a call sign like Wildcat, Lightning or Mustang.
Also the A-10 is called the Warthog because of its tough nature like the P-47 Razorback. It also holds the name ThunderbotII after the P-47 Thunderbolt.

So in reality the Mustang is not a Razorback and I don't think there is any govt. documentation stating as such or Merlin would of found it by now. However you can call it whatever you want, other people have obviously taken that liberty.

It does apply to both.

In the case of the P-47 it was officially called the Thunderbolt and unofficially the Jug due to its resemblance to a milk jug turned on end.

The term razorback is used to disguish from the "bubble top" versions. Both are slang as opposed to official designations.

As an example of common usage: http://www.collingsfoundation.org/ma_p51mustang.htm
