681 watts that sounds like pretty much

I thought that this fan-motor combo would give about 491 watts

How do you calculate the 814g AUW - and what does it really means ?

Thanks

I can't wait to get out and try the 491 watts, that I have upgraded to. But yours 681 watts sounds pretty amazing - I can't wait to hear about your first flight

Are you going to handlaunch, or takeoff from the ground ?

The 4 first flights I did, I took off from the ground, but my new ESC is so big, that I'm afraid that it will smash into the asphalt on landings. So now I'm thinking about handlaunch it.

Mine has a 5-blade Alfa fan and a Hoffman Mighty Mite on 4s 2200s and sounds great right at 600 watts, iirc.

Always launch an edf at full bore. You'll be glad you did.

Good work mate. It's a shame about the weather here though. Looking forward to the maiden report.
I foresee some more jets once you get this one sorted. EDF jets are like potato chips. You just want one more....................

I can see that your new 70mm fan, draws 65 amps. I'm pretty curious if your 60 amp ESC can handle the flight.

I have just bought the same 70mm fan you have, but I also only have a 60 amp ESC.

mine is a turnigy plush 60a.
i think its like 70 or 80a burst.

speedie didnt get warm with static test at home, so i suspect it'll stay super cool in flight since its out in the fresh air when mounted under the belly
