Craig C,

No I wasn't on a boat for Fleet Week, I was at the Wave Organ (the end of the breakwater which leads into the Saint Francis and the Golden Gate Yacht Clubs' Harbor).

The Fishing Boat Fun Run was great. A lot of nice boats and the attention to detail especially from the Louis G and my favorite the Orca are phenomenal. You're absolutely correct in that photos do not do these boats justice. It really looks like the real full size boat was somehow shrunken down to model size!

I see since I left early a lot more boats showed up. Thanks for posting the pictures. Oh yeah, the pictures I took with your lens seams focused to my unprofessional eye. The one of the rigging on the Louis G is from your lens...I think its file dsc8898

After the Fun Run Regatta....

This happened after the Fishin' Boat Fun Run on Sunday, all it took was one sunny afternoon, a lake, some kids, a radio and an old boat!

This really need to happen a LOT more often.

A quick note for Tim B. and everyone to answer a couple of questions and emails:

Wooden Boats on Parade is open to anyone who would like to to bring a model boat to the event. You will need to fill out the event entry-form (above) and pay the $10 dollar entrance fee. Start showing up around 09:30 or so. Anyone interested is welcome to come, the more the merrier!

You do NOT have to be a member of the San Francisco Model Yacht Club to participate in or enjoy Wooden Boats on Parade or any other event (though there may be an entry fee for participants entering contests or regattas like WBOP) or use Spreckles Lake to run your boats. All are welcome.*

For official word about The San Francisco Model Yacht Club, please check out their website or you can contact/email CaptLee or Bob Heacock here on RCGroups, both are part of the Powers-That-Be in the Club. craig_c also usually willing to answer to the best of his ability, but he stresses he can not speak officially about the Club.

*There are rules laid down by SF Park and Rec. - They are here.

Wednesday Night Operations on Spreckels Lake - 13 October 2010

Wednesday Night Operations on Spreckels Lake...

After The Club's "Fishing Boat Fun Run" I was invited to come and join the Irregulars for a 'night run' on Wednesday evening around dusk. Sure glad that I did. I had a lot of fun and I am looking forward to the next one, hopin' that I'll have my boat back in running order as well as having the camera.

The Central Coast Boys" are still not gelled enough to have found a regular place and meet time. With the loss of Toesup in the area, well, he was a prime mover.

Toes How about you and the Central coast bunch get a RoadTrip together and show up for the WBOP? The entry fee includes your lunch, extra lunches available for the support crew. Come one come All, you had to use wood somewhere in your Boat so you are welcome. See you there!!!!!!!!!!!
