Hi guys finaly got back and got some moreplanking done.
I placed the last few strakes, just need to adda few more stealers at the stern to complete the first planking...

the hull will be painted and i`m contemplating coppering the bottom, but if then it will have to be something lighter than the supplied copper plates.. maybe the same technique you used jerry. anyway i need to make teh second planking first..

got the 3 stealers on the stbd side in to close the planking on that side... looks a bit rough all in all, hope that will improve with sanding
Tomorrow i`ll finish the other side and start cleaning up the area for the sternpost..

I just weighted the hull it`s 330g right now. All the material for 2nd planking is another 140g total so i guess at least 120g used with glue.

First planking finaly completed

next will be sanding and filling.. and sanding and filling..
i`ll have also to figure out how the top 3 planks below the gunport pattern are supposed to run into the stern planking.

First Planking completed

it`s really satisfying to touch the smooth curves of the hull after sanding! I thought about cutting corners now and maybe leaving the 2nd planking off, but then it will add a lot of strength and make the hull easier to waterproof.
Hopefully it should also be much easier to lay it now that there is a properbase beneath..

Thanks mate i`m very happy with it too!

had a look at the Tazer build and it is very nice ! Doubt my Snake will reach that perfection tho i`ll have to leave quite some detail out for sailabilities sake.

i got the second side bullwark outside planking done and it`s nice and symetrical. Other than having to do all the cutouts it went pretty quick as hardly any tapering was required.

continuing on the second planking... the planks are narrower than the first planking so it`s even slower going than the first. at least that gives me enough time to dwell on how to do the rigging

Outstanding Job MB,

the pics of your previous post already led me to imagine the setup of the rigging, this model will be a blast on the water.

Really great work on a model of a cool prototype. Your build makes me wish I could start another myself. But I barely have time to sail the Syren.
This thread just keeps getting better and better builds...keep it up!

hey - ps - my mom was czech... Are you an American in CR? - great english....
