Pico Slick Great Flier Indoor/Outdoor 21.3gm


PICO SLICK 3D AIRPLANE, RTF (with 1S/70mah/20C Batt.) = 21.3 gm

DETAILS: Scaled down to 80% of MAE MICRO SLICK

1. Wing: Span = 14 inches Area = 54.5 sq. inches Material = 1.27mm
Durobatics
Supports = 1mm CF Tube CG Location = 1.9 in. from wing LE

2. Ailerons: L = 6.5 in W = 1.75 in Area = 11.38 x 2 = 22.75 Sq. In.
Material = 1mm Kenway Foam
Stiffener (near control horn) = .5mm CF Rod

3. Horz Stab/Elev: Span = 6.2 inches Area = 15.2 sq. in. Material = 0.63mm
Durobatics
Stab. Supports = 0.7mm CF Tube
Elevator stiffener (0.2 in back from LE) = 0.5 CF Rod

4. Rudder: W = 2.0 in. H = 3.7 in. Area = 7.9 sq. in. Material = 0.63mm
Durobatics

5. Fuselage: Length = 12.6 in. Material = 1.27 Durobatics Stiffener = 2mm
CF Tube
Make tail skid from 1/64 Plywood to protect rudder.
Use 1/64 plywood as stiffener for mounting Battery

6. Control Rods: 0.5 mm CF Rod

7. Landing Gear: 1mm CF Tube with 0.5mm Steel Wire for wheel axels
and mount to 2mm CF Fuselage Stiffener Tube
Make wheels 0.75 in. dia. from 3mm Depron

8. Motor Mounts: 1/64 Plywood

9. Motor/Gear/Prop.: Hobbico Playmate with GWS 5030 Propeller and 4mm
to 1.5mm GWS propeller adapter. Thrust = 30.4 gm
@ .85A

10. Receiver/Servos: Spektrum AR6400 = 2.4gzh receiver, integrated
elevator/rudder servos and 2A Brushed ESC

11. Aileron Servo: 1 gm homemade. Suggest using Spektrum AS2000
linear servo with bell crank , or Falcon Femto rotary
output servo ( If you use the Femto servo you will
have to keep Aileron hinges with very little stiffness
as this servo does not have very much torque)

12. Battery: Zippy 1S/70mah/20C

13. Flying: Will do all sorts of aerobatics including hover.

Video


I will try and get a video made and posted. I tried doing this with
other projects using my digital camera in video mode but file was
to large to attach to a thread. I understand I can get it compressed
by using utube. I will try this way out.

Dan - reduce the photo size (resolution) to VGA-size pics and try a test video. It works on my Nikon L110. Kinda wastes the HD-capable quality, tho!!!

Nice job, Dan.

Regarding your video, you can also use "Windows Movie Maker" which is free software that comes with Windows. You can import the file(s) from your camera and then edit, link, and output them to your choice of format and compression. You may have to first install "Movie Maker" from your Windows disk.
