Interchangeable motor mounting (Best Practices)

Hey Guys,

What do you guys use to mount your motors on your planes, but still allows you to swap them out quickly.

I typically used the long screws that came with my Turnigy servos, but looking for a different way that allows me to change them out using 4 bolts and nuts.

What are your suggestions?

It's Just Foam!!!

Probably the easiest is the breakaway motor mount I saw from Dave Powers. Lets you swap your motor quick and easy, and helps act as a shock absorber for some of those "vertical landings". Seems to work oretty well, too.

well, on my new plane "the elephant" which i just posted a thread about i think i might just use tape. at first i used hot glue, but then i dropped it and it broke. i used hot glue again but doing a gliding test it broke again(i didnt have a tail on at the time so that may have made it crash)
id say tape is the best way to go; easy to move around, easy to take off. but it wouldnt work on a big trick plane very well. it might

oh ya and the tape hasnt broken off even with five more glide flights. it can just move around a bit to absorb shock

Using tape to hold on a motor is not the smartest idea.

I bought several stick motor mounts. When I build my foamies I Epoxy the square plywood rod in place then I just screw the motor mount right to it.

Takes a total of 30 seconds to take the motor off 1 plane and put it on another. As simple as moving 1 screw.

I'm going to have to use that rubber band method from Dave from now on.

Here are some ideas for attaching motor to mounts. Some are really nice ones...

That coke bottle top mount is genius.

I am going to use that for my Elite 400 motor.
