Overheard at the Flying Field

I was at the flying field yesterday when a father and his young son showed up. They were enjoying watching the Amptiques, X-250s, Twisters, Electrostreaks, F-16s, Zagis and Skimmers fly.

I overheard the boy say, "Dad, I want to fly radio controlled airplanes when I grow up!"

And the father replied, "I'm sorry, can't do both."

Grow up? But, Peter, when is Wendy going to read us the bed-time story?

I may be growing older, but I don't think I've grown up.

That's a great comment, I've got to remmber it.

When people ask me what I intend to be when I grow up, I reply--"very, very old."

Model airplanes and fireworks--grown-up kids toys.

What a great post.

My Dad is 78 years young now, still building and flying. Seems it does work, at least for Dad and me.

Hey, Bob! Speaking of fireworks..

We had a WHALE of an event last Saturday night. Apparently a Microsoft Exec's wifey loves 'em and he treated her and most of the Central Puget Sound to a barge-launched $125,000 show! WHOOOOHOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!
The show was a full hour long and the finale was 3 minutes of sheer mayhem.
I can't wait for May 19 when we do ours.

Dave, your dad cracked me up when I met him at the last flyin we were both at. He reminded me of a kid, happily playing with his toys. I hope I can be the same way as I grow older!

I may have to grow old, but I don't have to grow up. I love life just the way it is.
