That's a good design, probably makes balancing it easier too.

Just wondering what other options I have for the Byron F16 conversion. Would it just be better for me to hold out and wait alittle longer for the new system? Mike

I hesitate ><, the jet will not be in the air before september anyway ..

Sell my fan and wait the new one (-500gr is great.)

Jim do you have an idea of the availability of the new one in the next month ? and the price ?

Price will be the same ($439). The new big system we have coming (bigger motor than the original screamer motor) will be $499.

Availability should be great as we are manufacturer most of the parts ourselves, and getting cores from Hacker and our own motor factory.

What do we do for a speed controller? Any many cell monsters around for this yet?

Glad I was on the fence on getting the LS setup....this new route sounds like a viable plan, and perhaps a little less lead time?

SPIN 200/Hacker, Schultze, Turnigy, etc. all make 200A controllers.

Any ideas on what the load will be with the new motor?

What cell count and load are you designing the new motor for?

The smaller/lighter motor was designed for 12S. The new motor is designed to handle over 20Kw, so 20S will be the limit.

Jim, its time to give each of these fan/motor combinations unique names so we don't confuse the 12s,20s and the older motor.

Hey Jim,

Are you guys going to get enough units in your first run to cover most of the people on the waiting list? I think I went on the list about 2 months ago and I am trying to figure out when I might be able to get my hands on one of these (the new 12s unit)

Our fan systems are:

Dynamax Xtreme (uses new smaller motor and replaces Little Screamers motor)
Dynamax Xtreme Pro (used new 20Kw motor).

We have 100 complete systems being built right now, and another 200 units are in the queue. This won't be enough for the rest of the year, but we believe we can keep up.

Sorry Jim but I still cant find anything close to 20KW.

I think id be happy with 10, and the 14 cell 200 amp controller should do that, but its only a little past 10KW.

If your making a 20KW motor what do you plan to use to spin it ?

200 amps needs 100 volts to get the 20KW

Another solution for high power would be to make the motor with a higher Kv accepting a higher amp draw and use a 14S 300A controller, that would be good for 15-16kW. There are a couple of those controllers available on the market now (Schultze and Jeti) so no need to wait for vaporware controllers to run the fan unit. Large 2P or 3P batteries needs to be used (10000-15000mAh), but that's just what the large 3D/acrobatic plane guys are doing and have been doing for some years. If it works for them it should do so in a EDF as well.

The smaller motor. The larger motors won't be done for another few months.
