We will have fans. We have not done any recorded testing on the higher cells. It's almost 15,000 watts on 18S, so you can imagine how that compares to 15S @ 8300 watts!

High cell count applications

Hi Jim

I was curious to know if your planning to have a different wind for the fan with the higher cell count applications. I am ready to pull the trigger but if there is something in the works I rather hold off.

Id imagine your charging sales tax at the AMA show so it my make sense for me to order the fan and controller online and pay the shipping charges instead.

It looks like this motor may work with 20-22 cells and be close to the 20 KW rating if I am reading this right, so I may have just answered this question and it should be good to go.

When will you have the 24 cell controllers on your website?

HAPPY NEW YEAR - This is starting out GREAT!!!

Now I just need to get the Radio.

I have been waiting for this and it seems the wait is over. Any estimate on the thrust at 20KW?

Thanks

Rick

We expect to see 30 pounds of thrust on 18s >15Kw. I will know for sure shortly as my new Starfire is running this setup.

Hello Drew,

You have any idea if anyone has done the conversion for a BAE Hawk Skymaster 1/5 to EDf using one of your fan units. BTW thanks received all fan units and batteries. Im impressed.

I don't know anyone that has converted a 1:5 scale Hawk.

I'm looking into building the F-20 from LDS and I have been told it will hold a 5" fan. Does XPS offer this fan in a Kv rating for 10-12s batteries?

Yes, our PRO fan is designed for 10S to 18S.

Jim, is the fan unit itself the same as the original Dynamax fan unit? Not talking about the motor.

Is the motor available separately? If so, at what cost?

What is the difference between the Dynamax and the Ramtec fan unit.

Never mind the last question, I found the answer.

One thing that Tony failed to mention is that the efficiency of the Dynamax blade is much better. We can buy the Ramtec fans at 1/4 the price of the Dynamax, but we wanted THE BEST performance in a fan system, so we chose the Dynamax.

And the motor? Can we buy the motor separately from you? At what cost?

Nope, we do not sell the motor or any of the parts to do the assembly. It's simply too dangerous with these power levels to let novices put fan systems together. These don't make cute little bits of plastic everywhere when they explode from balance issues.

20 Kilowatt Fan System

Hi Jim

"It's almost 15,000 watts on 18S" - I thought this was 20kW at 18's - how do we get 20kW?

Looking for cell count, amps, and thrust.

I havent run mine on the 16 cell controller I have. I was hoping the larger ESC would be available to get me the 20 kW.

16 cells @ 205 amps is almost 13,000 watts according to the website - and that puts me over the 200 amps for the speed controller.

Still sitting still.

How do we get 20kW?

I see this information posted on the website. Is there any problem running the fan I have at 20kW?

Dynamax Xtreme Pro II Fan Systems Back In Stock!

Yep! The bad boy of fan systems is back in stock! This 3rd generation fan system now features an all new single billet rotor hub assembly. The integrated collet allows the fan system to spin even higher RPMs, completely eliminating any possible 'play' normally found when using a traditional two piece type of collet assembly. The end result is a smoother running and more efficient fan system!

Thanks

Rick

The problem is the controller. You need to have a 20S/400A controller. You can drive it to 20Kw (actually 23Kw before the motor windings becomes unreliable). Most people will never see 15Kw. I have only seen it a few times with my setups, and the factory did the 23Kw test of the motor itself.

Wow this is getting complicated!

I thought that the 24 cell 250 amp controller you said you were going to have and what I thought I was going to get at the AMA show would have been the 20kW setup.

As in 24 cells @ 3.7 volts X 250 Amps = 22,000 Watts.

"Yes, that is true. We have 3 types that we will be releasing:"

14S / 175A - $199
18S / 200A - $249
24S / 250A - $299

"We will have them at the AMA show next week."

"It's almost 15,000 watts on 18S - (this is about 225 Amps) - ( Jan 01, 2012)
I will know for sure shortly as my new Starfire is running this setup."

Did you run this yet?

But your data for 16 cells is 205 Amps or about 12,000 Watts

"Yes, our PRO fan is designed for 10S to 18S."

Now 400 Amps on 20 cells.

With the same 3.7 volts = 29,600 Watts.

Or @ 3.9V/ cell on 20 cells @ 400 Amps = 31,200 Watts

Ok here is my delima. I have a 300 Amp 24 cell controller I found that is on the way.

On a 20 cell setup I come up with this

(20 X 3.7) = 74 volts X 270 Amps = 20,000 Watts. - Is my 300 Amp controller going to be in the ballpark? Even @ 300 Amps its 22,200 Watts.

Am I even close?

Why would I need a 400 amp controller?

Would it be possible to set this up on your test stand and see what it does when I get the controller?

I have yet to run the fan.

Thanks

Rick
