Fly? Yes. Land? Not so much.
Good morning all! I'd like some feedback on my idea for my F4F. My wife got me the bare airframe for Christmas (with all the parts I have laying around I figured I could supply the rest). I was thinking of putting a power system in it very similar to the original PZ Corsair. It will have a 30A ESC, the PZ 960 kV 480 motor and a 9.5x7.5 prop. It'll be flown on a 30c 3s 1800mah lipo. With the winter weather the maiden flight is still a couple months away. Any feedback on this would be appreciated. Thanks!!

That should all work. Great if you have the stuff.
I do like the high discharge 1300mAh.
No reason to scrimp on servos or go crazy either.
I really like HS65mg units. They are a little heavy.
I have EXI mg in Hotcat which have been fine, but even heavier.
I stole them from a 450 heli were they did not center well enough.
Under $10.00!
HS 55s are nice. Thinking the Futaba 314 ( must check #) would be ideal.

Good luck with the build!
It will go quickly. Chris

With my proposed setup, would I get decent flight times on a 1300mah battery?

Arrowhead
That the same motor as the stock Wildcat. Prop is pretty close as well (going from memory). With a 1300, flight times should be good - 7+minutes I would expect.

From the FaceBook page of Kermit Weeks:

"One of you out there asked about coming up from SW Florida if they knew when I was flying the Wildcat. Well, here it is... This weekend, both days at 1:30pm, just for you Tom!"

If you near Fantasy of Flight today I would defiantly stop on in!

I have found a pretty good prop opton for the Cat.

Went to Hobby Town and bought the Corsair prop adapter and put the Corsair prop (9.5 x 7.5). Beautiful. the stock adapter is too small for the bigger prop. Better than the APCs I've tried because it has a thicker profile. Best yet!

From Kemit Week's FB post:

"Never saw Tom today, for whom I flew the Wildcat!

Somebody in the crowd was disappointed I didn't fly a Mustang today, so here's the deal - Next Friday and Saturday we are doing our annual Tuskegee Airman symposium with some of the guys and I will be flying the red-tailed P-51C Mustang both days.

No excuses! I'm giving plenty of advanced notice!"

With the 7.5 pitch you should get great flight times useing the 1300.
If you do not have the Corsair motor on hand, at their price
you can do better.
Park 480 (either kv) Park power ten both work.
I would like to try an Omega 72 gram. (Nice price at 3D Hobby)
The power ten or $25.00 Turnigy 3536 will give vertical
power! Chris

Didn't fly but...

I didn't fly but I did clean out the work shed a tad and got in a bit of customization on my as of yet to be flown f4f. That's a stock canopy which I cut by scoring with a sharp Xacto knife.
