"I have a very very rare radio controlled CG 95304, U.S. Coast Guard Patrol Boat, the author and desinger is Sam Rabl, I have the orginal papers with the design and the designer testing the boats, During the Cold War years of the mid-'50's several aircraft and ship models were permanently pulled from distribution in the interest of national defense. One of these was the now famous 95-foot patrol boat which was the U.S. Coast Guard's answer to the threat from atom bomb smugglers and waterfront saboteurs. Every kit was destroyed, and all outstanding plans were 'lost'. I am glad I looked into this. this model is real and very rare, so if you are looking for something from the cold war years that is rare here it is, and what a ship. we will look at shipping this in a crate. the ship is 3 feet long. 1955."

Nice story... But I kind of doubt it, after all the Revell George Washington kit allegedly revealed a number of top secret compartmentalized details about the vessel, enough so that The Kindly Old Gentleman, Adm Rickover had a very public hissy fit over it in of all places the NY Times during mid-June 1961. If anyone would have had the power to pull a kit, it would have been Rickover.

When Revell reverse engineered the design for their model, they just appeared to get a lot of the details right. A fact that the model company used to sell a lot of kits after Rickover's comments. Or it all might have been Rickover playing at dezinformatsiya. Either way, Revell did see a lot lot kits fly off the shelves for many years.
