Isn't that the way eBay is designed to work? There's an interesting post on this website that makes a lot of sense. He talks about how things work at ebay and to evaluate offers.

Yeah, Tim,

Thats just about what that link surmises also. However, If you are selling, it seems like a sure win!

Blutoh, interesting link to write up on ebay, a lot of what he says is true, but I disagree with him on some points. There are some great deals to be had, but his 97% win on items he bids on, I do not buy. Or he is willing to bid high, if thats the case. I make a lot of bids and rarely win, but I won't pay through the nose and over the years I have amassed a collection of "to builds" at a fraction of the cost.Today I missed out on one that I really would have liked to have, but went to my max at last second and someone wanted it more http://www.ebay.com/itm/230917492309...84.m1435.l2649 and watched another, that the seller had a high rating, but I can tell you, it is missing most everything

What amazes me are the ones selling items still in production, for the cost or higher of what you can get it from the store for right now. For example is a dumas dauntless on our classified that is doing exactly that. Why would I pay retail without any warranty when I can pay and have some recourse if there is a problem with it.

Just think, if you had bid higher you could have had a Billings boat made of "mohongany." And the Sterling kit had a box of a little balsa and a lot of air.

capterik,

I agree completely, some good material there, some questionable. I regularly find currently available items that sell for within a few % points of what you can buy them for new with warranty. Go figure!

That was the Sterling plastic kit that came out about the same time as the Marx electrified version of its earlier windup toy. The Sterling kit actually had a number of pieces, as opposed to about five main parts for the Marx. The Sterling was also a smaller model. Its companion was a plastic kit of the Chris Craft Cobra, also motorized.
