Type out an explaination for the people inspecting your luggage. They're not going to be "suspicious" because you have an explaination or anything. But, the people who do the inspections are kinda desensitized from reality. I was with a group of friends last year to compete in a rocket competition, and the destination was Washington D.C. 11 young kids going on a trip to virginia with some model rockets... They really examined it well! Mostly, we had to be concerned about the trace amounts of black powder they would sense. Call them in advance, they'll give you packing tips, and you should be okay. Many people have transported their models without trouble, a few tips though:
-Pack it well, and put little post-it notes inside to tell the pilot what to be careful with as it's fragile.
-Unplug all battery packs from everything, including the transmitter.
-Think of things to show the things are really for R/C stuff... you know, you don't want them confusing a LiPo with C4 or whatever.
-Don't sweat it! and ignore the posts in here that make you thing "they're gonna getcha!" (none yet so far... )
