Goldberg Tiger and Sig 4 Star are great 2nd planes.

Look for low wing with symmetrical or semi-sym airfoil, light wing loading, wide based landing gear and long fuselage.

What you are looking at would be a good third plus plane. What you want is a low wing tail drager sport plane. Two good ones are the GP Escapade or the H9 Pulse XT 40. Also the Sig 4-Star 40 or Goldberg Tiger 2 40 might even be better.

The GP Cherokee would also be good, low wing with scale looks but is also trike geared like your trainer, it also has a semi symetrical wing. There is also the GP super Sportster 40. So far all planes in this thread would be good 2nd planes.

i like the hangar 9 pulse but is it easy to put together and does the build have alot of glueing i would put a evolution .46NX in it, is that a good engine

Escapade looks like it would fit the bill but has a wing loading of 25 oz/sq. ft. Tiger 2 is 18 oz.

So Tiger would be capable of flying much slower without stalling. You want to be able to throttle back and also land slow while training.

Same for 4 Star 40 that comes out at 19 0z. Sig brand.

BTW, Tower and Omni Models list the Tiger 2 under the Great Planes brand. I assume they are distributors now.

The pulse I've seen used as a second plane but landing is a little nerve wracking for someone not used to it, If you do really well with the trainer you may do fine but you will have to be on your toes a little more and you'll have a bit more of the pucker factor. With the pulse just keep your throws lower and it won't get too out of control but when you get bored with that crank the throws up some and that plane will really tear up the sky. So if your uneasy I would go with the 4-star BUT if your doing really well and are bored with the trainer then the Pulse might be just the plane to move up to. As for the Extra, NOT a good idea even if it says semi symmetrical airfoil. That is a serious acrobatic aircraft and won't have a long life in the hands of a newer pilot. A third plane it should be ok and will help you move up in skills. But like I said if your doing well, then the Pulse may be a great second plane that will last a bit longer on getting your skills up than some of the other great 2nd planes. It's all up to you and your flying skills.
