My Multiplex Easy Star

Before I detail my FPV plane, I also enjoy R/C helicopters.

The link below is to my 5ft R/C Airwolf...

I also have a gas turbine helicopter...

Predator Turbine. Wren MW54 (6kW / 8HP) 2-Stage Gas Turbine Engine (1 min 44 sec)

The Boy Who Could Fly...

The Boy Who Could Fly (1 min 54 sec)

Ok, now the plane. Like most people’s, the airframe of my Easy Star has been modified…
  • Larger rudder (balsa wood)
  • Larger elevator (balsa wood)
  • HS-55 rudder servo embedded in the horizontal tail-plane.
  • HS-55 elevator servo embedded in the vertical fin
  • Carbon-fiber reinforced wings
  • Carbon-fiber reinforced boom
  • Hollowed out underbelly (for electronics)
  • Chunk cut out of the boom to allow up to 8” prop.
Onboard electronics…
  • CPD4 Co-Pilot
  • Turnigy C2409-1600 (1600kv out-runner)
  • Unknown brand ESC (I think it’s 30A)
  • 7x4 prop
  • EzOSD
  • FS-HD1 camera
  • Camera pan (mod'd HS-81 servo to provide 180 degree movement)
  • 2000mW (2W) 900MHz video TX
  • Low Pass Antenna Filter
  • 2dBi omni-directional ‘dipole design’ (vertical polarization)
  • Power Supply Filter before the video TX
  • AR7000 + satellite receiver (both oriented in horizontal polarization)
  • 4000mAh 3S battery powering everything
Ground-station electronics…
  • EzAntennaTracker
  • Dual output 900MHz video RX (with SAW filter mod and 0-100mA RSSI output mod.)
  • Large 120mm RSSI analogue VU meter
  • 13dBi 900MHz panel antenna for video RX (vertical polarization)
  • Datavideo TBC-1000 Time Base Corrector
  • Modified Spectrum DX7 to enable the antenna to be removable
  • 1W 2.4GHz amplifier
  • 18dBi 2.4GHz panel antenna for control TX (horizontal polarization)
  • SDHC card DVR (3Mb/s)
  • 4-way video amplifier/splitter
  • VERY rugged 12V 15” LCD monitor (AG Neovo X-15AV)
  • Mod'd Trimersion goggles
  • iPad with iTelemetry
The AUW is exactly 1100g (38.8oz) and I get a flight time of 30 minutes. Top-speed in level flight is about 50 MPH (80 KPH).

Photos of the plane...
