Hi Guy's,

Got my self one this last monday.
Today will bring it to the club and do some wathering and detail's on it while my mentor buddy scale master will be around flying his Wildcat ...

Not shure my will fly off today for maiden. It will go if my detail's are done and if weather wind permitted later in the evening with my mentor on the control.

My powerplant, stock motor, E-Flight ESC 30A, E-Flight 1800mah lipo's,
and a 3 blader prop's to bleed the air around ...

I did the maiden flight on mine yesterday and was very impressed with how it handled the wind. It was faster than I thought it would be (which is great). I bought the 'airframe only' version, as I have too many motors, servos and whatnot lying around. After reading the reviews of the Supertigre .10 motor I was thinking it would be a poor choice, but since I had got a good deal on it (along with the speed controller) I figured 'no harm in tryin'. With a APC 9x6 E-prop and 2200mAh Flightmax 3-cell Lipo it pulled 250 watts WOT. Time will tell if the motor will hold up or not, but the pack wasn't even warm when I landed. Flew it around @ 1/2 throttle mostly and it still flew fast. Of course I'm not out to make a pylon racer out of it or trying to break the sound barrier!

they are a BLAST to fly. Just put some CF rods through the stabs.

anyone tried making some retractable gear(mains) for this plane???

Orion is looking at it (looks like he was making good progress) and I am giving it a go - but it is one tricky doo-hickey.

The March '83 issue of Model Airplane News has a set of plans for the mechanical retracts used on a larger sized glow powered model of the Grumman Wildcat (featured in the Feb. '83 issue).

I have the issue and will try to get more info.

I didn't put retracts on it, but main gear from Trojan and home made trailing steerable wheel.
I like how it flies, but I have a problem seeing it early morning or late in the day when sun is lower.
Have to come up with some contrast markings.
Maybe I am just not used to dark planes. All others are white with the exception of orange white Extra 300.

Looks really good!

How do the wings and the gear take the landings?

What did you do for the tailwheel?

No problem with wings. I mounted the wheel bases real close to the root of the wing. Wheels can handle the lighter plane.
I made the tail wheel out of 1/16 wire. Fed it through bottom of fuselage (there is a piece of antenna tubing) and in to the rudder between the screws.

Yah looks great! I've seen a few people put different kinds of landing gear that looks scale but not praticle until now! Seems like a very simple instalation... Do you have a picture of the bottom wing?? Thanks
