Feb 04, 2013, 11:39 PM IT'S NOSE HEAVY!!!! Lil... all I can think of is BAM BAM from the Flintstones little boy, named similarly. So what's the altitude, aperture, and F-stop?
Feb 04, 2013, 11:40 PM Theoretical balsa dust maker If you watch, they both "wiggle". If you have ever have the chance to sit by the T/E of a wing on a commercial airliner, watch all of the control surfaces during the entire flight envelope. Everything moves, shakes, wiggles, rattles, shimmies and vibrates at some point. It was just noticable on that shot, as one, it was the center of the frame, and two, the flaps on a 47 are just massive... Like the rest of the plane. You really can't get a concept of scale until you walk up to one.
Feb 04, 2013, 11:42 PM IT'S NOSE HEAVY!!!! Can somebody do the simple math for me to see how many more consecutive posts for ME to get the palindrome/curtain #3 prize? Because I can already say that I choose curtain #3.
Feb 04, 2013, 11:50 PM IT'S NOSE HEAVY!!!! I hadn't actually thought about the mechanics of scale, and those flap are, a wild ass guess, 7x30' ish (heavy on the ish)... yeah, I wouldn't want to hang onto that thing out the car window like i did when I was young, hand "flying" up and down in the wind by just twisting the wrist's AoA... and to hang it off of only TWO pivots!?!

Heh. You're joking, right?

Hey, I actually found it. Here ya go.

Feb 04, 2013, 11:55 PM IT'S NOSE HEAVY!!!! nice! 'cept no altitude Can somebody deduce distance based on focal length?
Feb 04, 2013, 11:56 PM
Hey, I told ya!

Here we go. Finally. Latest and greatest from this afternoon. I moved the CG forward a smidgen, and it really seemed to help. Now it's all just me goofing off. yes, even the stalls are deliberate, just.... because. There wasn't any good lift, and a bit too much wind, so I just had some fun. The funky whining hum is the rubber band that's holding on the camera vibrating.

Radian goofing off over Baylands park (15 min 3 sec)

But look! There's nothing behind curtain #1. Now, you can stick with #3, or you can switch to #2. . .

The first flight of the Right Flier covered less distance than the length of one wing on a 747.
Feb 05, 2013, 01:10 AM Torn 'twixt buildin' and flyin Never mind. It was already discussed in several posts. Johnny-come-lately, here. And Mr. U..... It was the WRIGHT Flyer. Designed, built and flown by Wilbur and Orville Wright. Not the Right Bros. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wright_Flyer

Feb 05, 2013, 01:17 AM IT'S NOSE HEAVY!!!! 1000 years? While technically correct, I wouldn't check is as "right".
Feb 05, 2013, 01:35 AM Theoretical balsa dust maker sorry typo... edited
Feb 05, 2013, 01:39 AM Torn 'twixt buildin' and flyin Well, yes, the Jumbo Jet was technically developed less than 100 years after the Wright Flyer first flew. But that should say: "Rather amazing what was developed in less than 100 years... " Because the Wright Flyer flew in 1903. And this is 2013. A little over 109 years later.
