Luscombe 10 looks like a good small rce project, maybe 25% larger. Going on my build list.

I was thinking the same thing in a EPP profile. Just hit print and scaled to 125% for about a 32" wingspan...

Does anyone out there have a photo of this model when built?

Edit: uploaded a better version again, this time scanned at 600dpi. Better quality again, and clearer. Sugggest users download latest copy.
Steve,
If you look on the Bowden Contest thread:

You'll find some super photos, the best I've seen of a Bowden Contest.

Help in 'how to' scan a plan

Have a plan I want to scan.
But My scanner at 8 1/2 x 11 can only do bits at a time.. which I can do.
But how do I stitch these pieces back together and then into a PDF for uploading??

I add a few referance lines if ther isn't enough detail on the plan now to align thngs when scanned. Usually if you hav 3 or so things to target it will work out fine. Last resort is use pencil that can be lightly errased or such

Scannig the plan

Hello Bare

Gimp is excellent for working plans after scanning them. I use it for cleaning up the plans and touching up the line drawings then scaling the drawing before converting to PDF's.

Then I use the PDF Creator software for converting the files to PDF. for posting here.

Both of them are available as free downloads off the net. here are the links:

http://www.gimp.org/

http://www.pdfforge.org/pdfcreator

Attached below is a little preview of the work one can do with these two programs

Great!! thank you Gentlemen.
I now have enough to keep me struggling for at least 48 hours :-)
Hopefully.. eventually even I can (?) have something half as crisp /clean as those B26 PDF's.

Ratracer and others,

The B-26 plan was originally designed and drawn by Leon Shulman, and were published in Air Trails around 1954, IIRC. Shulman flew the B-26 in WWII. The markings shown on the plan are of Shulman's ship.

Shulman was active in the model airplane industry in the '50s and '60s as a distributor, IIRC. He got his son(s?) and grandson(s?) involved in the hobby, and one of them (Jason Shulman?) is a pattern champion. http://shulmanaviation.com/index.php?cPath=191

Can you make a clean copy of this? I've worked at it with PSE and Gimp but can't seem to make it look any better.

WS = 24"

TIA

Hello Guisseppi,

The problem here is that the scan is too small. The resolution is rather poor, that is why you cannot improove its quality. It would be awesome if you can obtain a better resolution copy. If it is a magazine page, use 600 dpi so the lines will keep sharp. Then it will be a piece of cake.

All the best!

From the July 1961 Aeromodeller Whizler was designed as part 1 of a beginners course that run for 5 editions. What I have here is not quite the cleaned up copy of the original but one of my CAD tracings. At least you could always use the scan of the original article if you wish to practice cleaning up pictures Hope you enjoy it.

Black Bird glider

Well, this isn’t really an old timer (model) but for those of you with grand kids, or just the kid in yourself, or any one who want to jump in and make a quick flyer, err glider…err maybe a bird, or have a little fun, here’s another 1958 MAN, pages 25-7.
