FLying Aces Biplane Julius Unrath Flying Aces July 1934

This seems kind of interesting. Anyone ever see a better photo of the model? As usual, best images (or at least the ones with the most bits) in the zip files. Page 1 (the article) in the first zip file, the other 4 in the second file.

Span is about 18 inches.

I doubt this one will set any duration records, but the article can be amusing if you are in the right mood for it. Suspect that on the recommended 1/32 square motor it would be tremendously overpowered. Maybe needs .005" or .010" X .042"??

Wondering if anybody has a plan for John Tatone's Frisco Kid that would print out full sized?

Your wish is my . . . . .

Strange one Ray, the plan was larger than 1/2" grids? Had to Reduce sizes of both sheets.

Regards Ian.

Lower RHS of main plan, "1/2" Grids" ?

What span is it supposed to be? Wing chord on Sht 2 is 4" Span seems to scale at approx. 30" ?

Regards Ian.

I was using the 2" wheel as a reference giving 8" chord and about 56" span. Looks bigger than 30" in the photographs.

Changed it to 1" grids, bloody publishers. Sorry for confusion. S'pose 30" for a .15cu in. would tend to make the wings sweep back a bit?

Regards Ian.

And, at least on my computer screen, the wheel is not round and the
vertical grids are shorter than the horizontal ones.
The 1" TE matches the vertical ones.

May be just the way it shows on my screen

The NFFS plan catalog lists it at 56" span. One inch trailing edge on stab and wing. Indicates wing area 486 sq. in.

I just scanned the Triangle Sportster directly from the September 1938 Model AIrplane News. Much better scan this time, so I replaced the scans I had uploaded in post 11376. I also added the article that went with the plan.
