Y'all are most welcome. I'm taking a few months off from working and not being idle. I'm also enjoying reading the magazines, and seeing how the hobby was structured. It's fascinating to see the magazines' audience orientation toward the scratch builder and flier, rather than today's emphasis towards the purchaser/operator/pilot.

Those are from back in the day Dave, that if you wanted a "Toy", you had to build it. You have a greater appreciation for it, when you've got time invested in it, unlike today's " throw away " society.

Wow, you are so correct. My nephews and niece have unlimited phones, toys, gadgets, and video programs (at least my brother and sis-in-law draw the line at a full blown playstation, etc.)

When I visit them I sit there in wonder at all they have.

I tell them "We used to play with sticks."

And we were fine with that.

I like real wooden aeroplanes!

If a model has cost you money, you may like it, be proud of owning it and enjoy flying it, but if you break it, what the heck, it's only money. If it has cost you A LOT of money you may like it more, handle it with more care and (depending upon how important money is to you) maybe even enjoy it more and be more proud of it. But if you have poured time, effort, thought and skill into creating it, you will REALLY have an emotional investment in it, and the enjoyment you gain from owning and flying it will be the greatest of all.

Wouldn't this be neat, scaled up 200% and made into a speedy sport RC?
