I built the kit in about 1962 and the airfoil was no more than the arc of a circle with trailing edge stock for both leading and trailing edges. Seriously, the high point was half way back. Even as a boy it looked crude to me.

On the other hand, in such a small scale a shallow arc isn't a bad choice.

Thermic C airfoils and dimensions


As requested....airfoil is base on the proportions of a Square Soar airfoil
adjusted to fit the LE and TE of the Thermic (3/16x1/2)

Models on the Fly, or is that Fly on the Model?


For a bit of comic relief, here are plans and an article on fly powered planes. Inspired by shenanigans at the 1939 Nats, according to the text. Includes shocking accusation against Korda!?! ;-) Plans shown are 3 to 5 inches, text mentions 2 1/2 inches. (Depends on size of fly.) It appears this set of plans may actually have been used, because there is tracing and cutting on the leading edge of plan 2.

I built many of those fly powered models back on the ranch after I received that issue of MAN. My mother thought it was cruel to the flies! I found the small model could be controlled by the fly, ending up on a window every time. Also the smaller flies seemed to have a better "power to weight" ratio.

I recall an article in Model Builder, too. So many years ago, probably in the seventies????/

Try this one. Not much of an airfoil, but this is what Jasco gave you for ribs.

Jasco vs Jetco Thermic C


I looked at the Jasco C wing and tried to figure out how to adapt the airfoil to the
Jetco C leading edges and taper, and just couldn't come up with a good way. The Jetco C airfoil has a flat bottom and squared ends for the LE and TE. Also, the Jetco wing tapers from the root airfoil all the way to the wingtip.....The Jasco wing has parallel LE and TE with elliptical tips. The Jetco tip is "square".

So I ended up with a basic 1/3-2/3 foil.

But thanks for trying to help. I know I need all that I can get !

I would think that a simple full size center rib template rotated downward (pivot point at upper rear of LE stock) to ever shorter rib locations, would automatically taper themselves as long as the top camber determined rib length where it met front of trailing edge stock. Add constant TE thinkness there it cr, cut a new bottom straight line. Sounds more complex than it is. MANY tapered wings have been using this method or variation of it.
I like the Thermic C's. Both of them, but for crying out loud, it ain't exactly rocket science, is it?
