That Navion looks to be exhibiting some very advanced design features. It would be right at home with today's design trends. Perhaps only a larger prop? IIRC, H. Struck did his Navion about the same time. It would be interesting to compare the two plans.

Scarab revisited
I was wandering the internet and came across a better scan of the 1949 Scarab plan to what I posted earlier (post #7904& #7909). It looks to be a reprint in a newer mag. I was wondering if anyone has the issue and could look in it to confirm and maybe it is better than what I have found . The writing is still unreadable in this scan.
Issue, date and page number in the lower right corner of scan. Chris |

Hi Ray:
In my joy of receiving the Scarab plan that I can actually build from. I forgot to ask you why the plan was printed in the magazine in the first place. Was it an article about the designer? Old models worth modelling? Chris |

Any Plans for The "Scott Free"???
Hi Guys:
Just remembered a free flight design that was very intriguing - from the late 1950's. It was the "Scott Free" It had a very nicely machine carved under slung engine pod, a solid spruce boom, sheet rudder and tail feathers. The wings were unique. It had a machine carved leading edges upper and lower cambers to about 25% of the chord. It had a poly-hedral wing with the under side of the wing sheeted and top was tissue / silk span covered. I used a venerable O.K. 049 for power. It turned out quite heavy for the wing area. Glide was very fast! Even good Landings were distructive to the structure. Any plans for this little beast?? Does anyone else remember it? I Can't remember the manufacturer. Sincerely, Jon B. Shereshaw Gladstone, New Jersey, USA |

[QUOTE][I forgot to ask you why the plan was printed in the magazine in the first place/QUOTE]
Chris, It was just a short article about newsletters produced by various SAM chapters. The Scarab was an example from the plans collection of one of the newsletters editors (Keith Harris) and the only other information is that it was an Albert Hatful design later kitted by Worcraft. Ray |

Winnie Mae by Paul Plecan
Roland has posted this free plan over on the fullsizeplans site - http://www.fullsizeplans.com/index.p...d=38&Itemid=46 - 40in span CL scale model for Forster 29 power. From the Aircraft Plan Company, 1947. The PDF was password protected, for some strange reason. Running it through Gimp has removed that issue.

Im posting here a very nice plan, from the Hawker Hurricane designed in the 40īs by the master Earl Stahl. This version of the plan is a excellent work by my Aussie friend Luke Spreadborough, that joined, cleaned and improved this classic that really deserved this work.
Thank you Luke by your time and effort ! Carlo |
