Check List before Flight

Guys,

Does someone has a good check list before flight for beginners?

Thank you very much.

Hi Arthur,

How did the flight with the Chippy go?
Here is a link to a UK site that has check lists and lots of good info.

Cheers,

Hi Collin,

Thank you very much for your help. I've not flown my Chipmunck yet, yesterday I had a problem to run the OS FS 91, I think that the KwickFill is the problem, tomorrow I'll try again without it.

Thanks
Arthur

The link Crash gives in his post (#2) is a great reference and guide and a MUST before EVERY flying day.

One thing that I would add is flight control check before each flight. Gives you a chance to see if the surfaces are moving the direction you want them to...

Arthur,

I've heard guys gripe about them (Du-Bro and Great Planes) and it usually comes down to dirt getting into them and preventing the O-ring from properly seating and they leak. I installed one on my pattern ship and added the cover to it. It's been on there about six months now. No problems as of yet.

One of my students use's the quick fill and he had problems till I found out that he wasn't pulling it all the way out, then pushing it all the way back in. Also use the cover, it keeps crap out. I like the system and plan on using it. ( Du Bro ) ENJOY !!! RED

#1 Check to see if the aircraft flies

No but seriously
  1. Check battery voltage (or w/e if you fly gas)
  2. Check CG
  3. Check control surfaces are centered without input
  4. Check Throws
  5. Check control surfaces
  6. Check control direction (lol reverse ailerons)
  7. Check gyro direction (if installed)
  8. Check auxiliary functions (retracts, flaps)
  9. Check mixes (if any) to make sure that they are doing the right thing
  10. Check tracking on the runway (wheels are straight, plane rolls straight, if you have wheels..)
  11. Check wind direction, take off into it.
  12. Check rubble after crash for salvageable components

To clarify bandetlol's #5, be sure the control surfaces are tightly bound to the wing/stabilizer. Hinges coming loose are fairly common and can cause an alarming change in flight characteristics.

I've had one aileron fall loose, one rudder, and (thankfully just) half of an elevator. All landed well, but were concerning. I since added a small hole and a fragment of a toothpick through the CA hinge.

PD.

On your CA hinge.. just wick CA into that hole.. will do more good than the toothpick allowing the CA to disperse more easily throughout and farther away from the hinge line
