lensrc;

Did you design this plane or build it from plans or is it a kit?
I like the look very much. I just bought an Astro 010 with C
GB, it would go very nicely with your plane!

it looks amazingly similar to the SIG Rascal. I am in the proccess of building one right now!

P.S. it looks really, really cool for not having any plans or anything to work from. Congrats! Hoe it flies well!

Good luck!

What is the wing span on your Rascal and what motor GB combo do they reccomend?

I guess I could do a search on it.

I did have plans, but I drew them up myself. My own design.Dont know how she fly's yet.And the Sig Rascal was the inspiration for this plane.

The plans....

The plan I drew up for this is fairly basic, wing and tail planform, rib templates without any cutouts, and fuse profile. The top veiw for the fuse is not right,The tail doesnt come to the proper point width. These are all things that I worked out while building. The cowl was also worked out after the plan was drawn. All that being said here is a link to the plan.Doodler Plan

right click and click "save target as"

P.S. the airfoil I used is the S7012

Looks good, sure makes it easy to resize ribs working in CAD.

How did you allow for wing sheeting on your ribs, just sketch it in after printing? I'm playing around with parallel lines and wide widths in TurboCad, but I may end up plunking down a few sovereigns for that Wing Calc program, whatever it's called.

Kinnic,
I really did'nt allow for it other than just being aware that the airfoil would be 1/16" bigger all around when finished.I did allow for it when drawing the fuse side so the wing would fit correctly.I use Corel Draw to work up plans,I have AutoCad 2K,but find the learning curve to big for me.

BZZT, look back on my first post and the one 6 posts up...

lensrc, the SIG Rascal comes in 3 sizes - electric S400, scaled up for a .40 engine, and a 120" wingspan version. They are called the Rascal (just plain - rascal) , rascal 40, and the rascal 110. Each is a little different from the one before (they were created first S400 size kit, the S400 size ARF, then .40 version, then after a long time, the rascal 110)

I own the S400 version, and I'm building the kit version. Very nice plane, lazer cut......an awesome experience building it! I've learned a ton - and next time I get a balsa ARF, it'll be like heaven and I'll really appreciate it! Everybody says the S400 is barely, marginally enough and the most popular upgrade is the Hobby Lobby long can black 400/480 motor geeared 2:1. another popular upgrade is the Promax cobalt, the graupner S480, AF 020.....

it has a 49" span. I'm using a Promax cobalt 400 4014 motor. It makes nearly twice the thrust of a S400 geared 2:1, running DD. I plan on using the promax 4014 geared 2:1 with a 3bladed prop

Good luck!
