Ken,

Thanks once again for an awesome set of plans!!!

Note: cg is from 13" typical outdoor to 14" typical indoor.

Dan

Below are the graphics I used on mine for the "kind of" Thunderbird look.

Build instructions

Recommended build instructions:

1) Make templates and trace on foam.
2) Cut all foam pieces.
3) Hinge control surfaces. Recommend rudder hing on left side.
4) Cut the notch for the stick motor mount into the lower KF wing layer.
5) Laminate KF surface to upper wing surface. Recommended 3m Spray 77.
6) Glue in stick mount. 0 down thrust, 0 or slightly right thrust. The mounting screw should be just ahead of the airframe for easy access.
7) Shape the leading edges. I used a drywall screen tool.
8) Laminate the front lower fuse side pieces. Recommended 3m Spray 77.
9) Lightly mark the positions for the upper and lower fuse on to the wing.
10) Glue the lower fuse in place. Recommend Welders glue.
11) Glue the upper fuse in place. Recommend Welders glue.
12) Join the lower rudder hinge
13) Mount the motor and esc. Recommend esc goes to left side. I extended the ESC wires about 3 inches on mine.
14) Mount the 5 gram rudder servo very far back on left side. I used a servo extension for the rudder servo.
15) Plug all of the servos to the Rx position the elevon servos and Rx so all the wires reach and the cg is correct.
16) Power up your system and make sure the servos and esc/motor are operating properly.
16) Secure servos and Rx in place.
17) Install the control surface horns and push rods
18) Mount the battery on the right side so that the cg balances properly. Preferably the battery will be at the cg. Mount the prop saver and propeller
19) Do an awesome paint job.
20) For the first flight, elevons slightly up, rudder straight, about 1/2 throttle and toss gently up at about a 45 degree angle. Trim as required.
21) Have fun!!!

Thanks to Ken and Leadfeather. September will be here before we know it. I expect to have a couple of these flying for the indoor season. Come to think of it, most of my indoor fleet is by Lead. 2 fireflies for combat, 5 Yaks for 3D (I know, I know) and a couple of these.

I may have to build one of these! Have you tried it with a KFM4 airfoil?

So far only one of these jets exist. I think if you want to build for more speed for outdoor flying, a 6mm Depron, KF4 build will work well.

I have about 8 sheets of 6mm depron so thats what I would use... Im thinking around 28-30" wingspan with a 50g motor and 1250mah 3s

The difference is the paper size. Since you're in the US, use the letter size. A4 is based on the metric system and is 210mm x 297mm.

Thanks Dan for the cool plane and Ken for the great plans. I built one yesterday and maidened it today. It is a great flying plane. Here is a video of the third flight. I was to excited about flting it and forgot to take my camera out on the first two. Now I need to add an awesome paint job.

Nice Job Russ!

Any idea of the AUW in FFF there?

She looks rock steady.

Thanks Ken. The AUW is 12.25oz with a 1000ma lipo. I am running a E-Max 2812 on it.
