Very nice piece of kit, high quality hardware as expected and flys straight as an arrow.

Tail incidence perfect, downlines perfect right off the bat.

I thought I might have a nose heavy issue at home as the Motrofly DM5320-300 on 8s is a lot of weight plus the DA 3.24" standoffs and bolts but the batteries were right in the middle of the tray so couldn't be happier. throws I'm getting about 50deg elevator, 45 deg aileron and about 1/2" off full on rudder both sides using the recommended SWB arms.

Trimming was almost non existent, a couple of clicks aileron, couple elevator and tracking very true and clean.

One thing I wondered is how much throw do I need to get this thing to tumble and so forth? I tried a few tumbles today and it was not very impressive.

Only issue is, trying a few touch and goes on the third flight and the dreaded landing gear snapped pretty clean on the right hand side half way up. Wasn't even a harrier landing.

I pretty much stuffed one wheel pant, one landing gear and one Xoar 19x10 prop in this little issue, NOT A HAPPY CAMPER.

What gives Chris, I've seen this issue come up a few times as I've read through this 70" EF thread.

The LG in my 70" slick has taken a hell of a pounding, crashed several times, ripped rudders out on hard three point landings and still holding up as strong as day one. This extra snapped without even trying????
Just get some carbon fiber cloth along with some finishing epoxy and fix it. It goes along ways and CF is easy to work with on repairs. I can post some repair pics if needed. If anyone knows how to repair on a budget it's me. I have broke and repaired mine at least 10 times. Let me know!

I'd love to know what carbon cloth and epoxy you use for this.

The only carbon cloth I could find was 18gsm and it is very light stuff, not sure it will be strong enough.

I'd like to have a go at repairing for the future as you say you have broken your about 10 times and repaired yourself along the way.

Try your LHS as it is where I purchased mine. You can double the thickness of the repair if you overlap the layers. I paid $16.99 for a 24"x24" clothe and $12.99 for the finishing epoxy. Yes, it cost me the LHS price but I have repaired other models as well so I'd say it's worth the investment.

the hacker a50-12l vanished in the post so I need to order another motor again!!

Is the scorpion 4035-380Kv a good purchase for 6 cell with perhaps a 19x10 or 20x8 APC?

I figure the 330KV is too low?

I believe the 330kv is what Hercdiver had on his 70" Extra.

Yes. I'm guessing thats why it didnt compare power wise to the Axi?

Why would you want to remove the tail? IMO I feel it is unnecessary wear and tear on linkages and cf tube. I live in what feels like a tin can and I don't remove them.

To keep the missus happy im putting it under the stairs. I can't store it without taking the tail off. I dont see how its any different than bolting the wings on I.e. im not concerned about wear and tear

Perhaps it will squeeze in with one half installed

Build it 99% complete now.

I'm struggling with the CG a little though. With the battery as far forward as it will go the CG is about 5.5" back from the leading edge.

I assume its suppose to be 5"? I'm running a hacker a50-12l v1 which is quite a heavy lump at 500grams and the esc and bec are as far forward as possible.

I'm confused.

Are you saying your tail heavy?

What servos are you using in the elevator?

I assume your pull-pull on rudder?

I have the Motrofly DM5320-300 and 8s x4000 packs in mine plus a 120A ztw opto esc and I'm still nose heavy with my batteries back against the wing tube, my esc right back till its above the landing gear plates.

I'm using 3.5" of DA standoffs as well on mine.
