Huckin around the Shire

I run a Castle BEC pro. I also use HV servos and run them at 8.5V. I am thinking of backing off to 8V as they are fast enough as is and I don't want to push them too far. Also this setup allows 2 leads into the RX so that the amp draw is distributed a bit.

FWIW, I am using the following:

HS-5245MG x2
HS-5985MG x2

and powering servos with a 2s 1300mAh LiPo regulated to 6v through a Fromeco Sahara regulator.

anyone running the A-50 12L V2 on this plane? if so, do you like it and how many cells are you running?

This motor will require that you decide on your propeller before determining the number of cells. It has a fairly aggressive Kv so you can spin a 19x10 or a 20x8 (maybe) on 6S, but if you go to an 8S setup, you will have to prop down considerably.

You can call Mike or Kyle at Aero-Model.com and I'm sure they will give you the real details, but I'd bet that for this plane, that will perform better with an 18, 19, or 20 inch prop, the 6S is where you'll end up with this motor. I would have selected a lower Kv so that I could swing a bigger prop on more cells (volts).

thank you for your response! 6s is kind of where i want to be, so that's why the KV. i know the A-60 6xs seems to be a popular choice, but i'm just looking around the corner. trying to save a little weight. i'm a low and slow 3d'er so i'm not looking for speed and don't need it to be over power, just don't want under powered. ....i just need enough power. just enough torque to get me out of trouble and plenty of a$$ to pull out of a hover. i'll give them a call. i guess i'm just worried about it being underpowered

the CC Ice 100 ESC......can you disable the BEC thru programing or do you have to cut a wire?
