Hey guys,

Thanks for the support on this project! I really appreciate knowing that this thread is worth following. I've spent the last week or so fiddling with some of the subtle yet important curves on this plug. Most people wouldn't know the difference but to me they stick out like a sore thumb and are worth fixing before making the mold. It feels like I've been chasing myself around in circles but in reality the plug is definitely better than it was before. At this point the next steps include laying down a final coat of paint on the plug, wetsand and polish the painted plug, then wax and mold this baby! This fuse might be red by the end of tomorrow !

Thanks again guys! My flight to L.A. is on tuesday and the Electrolyte plug will be finished just in time. Today I was able to sneak up to the roof of my apartment building and paint the plug with some krylon red. I figured the roof was the best option for minimizing dust on the wet paint but it was still a compromise. The painted finish still needs a little wet sanding but hopefully the final glossy finish will improve the quality of the mold. In addition the color red was chosen to contrast the black epoxy gel coat when it becomes time to make the mold.

It wasn't all perfect though. There was a small run in the paint near the intake so I had to wetsand the painted finish. The good news is that after wetsanding the fuse with 800 grit, I think the finish is going to get even smoother.

Yeah it took some time but it flies by when your having fun!

I'm definitely going to the basin so it would be great to do some flying together. As for the ducting, I'm still a little ways off from that but I might appreciate the help depending on my time availability.

I might do a very limited production of kits. There is no profit in making such a small fuselage so I'll be doing it for the enjoyment and not the $$$. The biggest factor will be finding the time to make the kits.

Can any of you recommend a high performance 40mm power system? I see this AEO system which looks great but I haven't heard of any first hand accounts. There are many other options but so far i see the most consistent results from the 12mm motors. Any first hand input is appreciated.

Hey Pdawg, I have one of those AEO 6800kv motors in my BP Hobbies fun foam F-16's.
The jet really rips with it init. They recomend a20 amp esc because on only a 2 cell lipo,an Enerland 30c 700ma pack she pulls 18amps hot off the charger. only good for 3 or 4 laps around the field, before she start's to call unckle.
