Kyle,
Sorry to hear about the food poisoning! That is no fun. I had a bad apple pie from McDonald's a few months ago and I was out of commission for a few days! Get well soon! Bob, CN and I met yesterday for the launch. It has been in the making for about a month now but the airliner and our schedules were giving us trouble. The good news was that the midair Electrolyte release was extremely smooth and predictable. Corsair Nut actually did most of the work by flying the airliner and setting up the right altitude and airspeed for the release. On the first pass the airliner was already in a perfect position so CN did his countdown and away the Electrolyte went. I watched the beautiful release for a second before advancing the throttle. With the power on the Electrolyte stopped descending and took off ahead of the airliner. The only thing missing was a trail of smoke!!! |

just really a cool way of doing .....way safer than a hand toss or bungi launch...the cool factor is the best just looks toally full sacle nasa stuff for sure. yeah a bit of rocket exhust would put it over the top..heck even just a smoke stick of some type would be cool.Bret you need to come to vegas and do a noon demo of this

Seriously Bret, you have been my RC idol for years (ever since the micro stinger and your foamy drop) and this just proves why! Amazing work as always guys, that was really fun to watch!

Forsakenrider,
Thanks for the kind words! We both have a nasty addiction for small high performance models. it's nice knowing others also enjoy the experience! The inflight Electrolye drop was a way to relive the Gordo days. It worked perfectly so next time Corsair Nut and myself are switching piloting roles. |

Hi 3DMON!
Great to see you in this thread! Yeah the airliner has been sitting in the corner of the shed for a few years gathering dust. It was exciting to dust her off & setup for another drop. CN and I were talking about repainting the airliner to match the B-29 that dropped the X-1. |
