them batteries look ideal, would mean for a tenner i can use my current TV for a while till i upgrade.

I guess you simply charge them from a 12v car battery charger?

So:

Vrx goes into RCA

RCA to 3.5mm jack into DVR (cable comes with the DVR)

DVR Out to RCA into TV

The nice thing i found with this DVR is that you get an overlay like the battery remaining or if your recording etc, but you can press ext on the remote and that information goes, so if your using a OSD this wont be doubled up on the screen!

Note that you can only have one Screen working at a time, so the DVR is recording, press LCD and it goes to the other bigger tv, its not splitting the signal.

You can, but only do it for a few hours, there only 7ah cells! I brought a proper lead charger for around 6 and i just charge it over night!

Just a little note on this DVR:-
This is the proper one. The knock off version from some places in China don't have the same firmware. I know this because I've had both!
I got a full set of leads, accessories, a working mains charger, 2 batteries and a car charger with mine.
Plus if it dies - you bought it from a UK retailer who will do something about it.

I'm not keen on the TV idea. It's great in the winter but as soon as you get a nice summer's day you won't see anything unless you're in a bunker.

This is a fair comment, but in the summer i will make a foldable box, with a cut out at the front for eye holes! Sounds gash i know lol but it should be fine! Im planning on setting up a GS in the back of my VW T4

...also i should add 150 for a tv and DVR still beats fatsharks with no recorder! I do live google with a HT, but i still like the fact i can fly, have a smoke pour a cuppa tea and see what wierdos are behind when flying alone! Its all a trade off i guess

A bigger TV with some sort of backlight would be fine in summer. I think TFT screens would be best, same as on my PC, ive had the sun shining directly on it, with no issues.

And yeh ive had a box cutout before, worked a treat on the cheaper Car monitor style ones.

If your looking for a cheap option I managed to pick up an Archos 705 on eBay for just over 7 delivered.

It has a 7inch screen and for only another 18 I was able to pick up the mobile DVR station, USB charger and a 7inch sun visor.

So for a little over 25 I think I got a really good deal for a screen and DVR. Plus if I get bored I can watch a movie or TV episode.

Most of the time they sell for more on eBay, but if you wait long enough and keep following the auctions you might win one cheap with a bid within the last 5 seconds.

I have no idea how good its going to be for FPV, but as it was cheap if it doesn't work I can easily sell it onto someone else on eBay.
