nice one Wayne. Looking a bit wet round there.
It's good that you missed RCM's SW.
You really need a pan gimble to help you see where you are going

Just a good job you couldn't see me buzzing around you, i was way too close at times and at the speed we were going it wasn't the easiest for me to maintain my attitude. Damn good fun though.

Thanks to John for picking up a cc3d for me too

Have used the Kapelec alti-osd in the past, but it is now no longer available (without starting from scratch)

Dragon OSD does it - but apparently only with one type of compass sensor that costs an additional 100 - plus baro sensor for another 20 or so. (So something like 220 for the limited functions I want )

Possibly Arduino based solutions out there, but I really want an off the shelf solution at reasonable cost.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Malcolm
Well I didn't get any response to this, so possibly asking in the wrong place, but have been continuing to dig around for solutions. It's looking like it might have to be a mix and match solution. Have never played with Multiwii stuff before, so has anyone got experience of the Rushduino OSD?
http://qcrc.ca/shop/index.php?main_p...products_id=40
It looks like that combined with this:
http://www.goodluckbuy.com/mwc-multi...breakout-.html
- might give me the alti and compass readouts I need. Seems silly having a complete flight control board I won't be using, but I need some way of getting the appropriate signals to the OSD.

Any MW / Arduino experts out there with helpful suggestions?

Thanks

Malcolm

My thought is it might be worth taking a look at the DIY OSD by Dennis Frie. It's an arduino solution that can support any sensor you want.

https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show....php?t=1473207

It's certainly not off the shelf and will require some configuration, but Dennis is a very knowledgeable and helpful chap. The code is relatively straight forward and there are some very helpful people contributing to that thread.

Sensors can be sourced in the UK from companies like Cool Components

If you're willing to put in the effort, you can have a totally bespoke solution for around 30

I'm not an arduino expert, but I could lend a hand if required.

Thanks Paul - That has occupied a few hours reading into it!

I think I would be happy enough assembling the hardware, but I have very little experience of compiling code - just a bit of configuring of other peoples work, such as commenting out lines etc. It looks like Dennis is using the GPS data at present and there is nothing in place to read separate baro / magnetometer. I found the sample code on the coolcomponents page for the individual sensors, but would be at a bit of a loss on how to integrate that with the DIY OSD code. - Any help on that would be much appreciated.

PS Greenham flyable at this time of year - if you fancy meeting up there sometime.

Malcolm
