My Blog - Some of my Slofly wing experiments.

Although I enjoy just about every kind of RC flying, slow flying wings have always fascinated me.

And my latest and most successful
20" Span w/ solite covering
C10 ELE motor
2s 400mAh batt
GWS 4ch Rx w/ 2 4.3g servos
6A esc
RTF weight 3.5 oz

Ribs made from Dollartree Readi board.
LE, spars, and TE from balsa.

Flys great! With a 1-2 mph wind it will float over head for as long as I care too. I think it might even thermal!
Speeds up nice too for a small wing.

That looks cool. Where did you get the wing? Or the plans?

I'm keen to get something that flies slow to help my adult kids learn to fly a little bit.

Hi Charles,

with your title have you done any creating of your own electronic speed controllers? I read about a guy who was building his own. I know how to handle a soldering iron fairly well so am keen to try it out.

I have though about it but it is so much cheaper to by than reinvent the wheel.

All though I have reprogrammed them to run by I2C not PPM. Even that
has be done before. I didn't write the code.

If your having problems with ESC heat. just change the size and type of heat sink .

check this link out.

Thanks, the link didn't work for me, got invalid private message specified.

I'm not having any issues with heat with my speed controllers. I'm keeping them well heat sinked and in the air flow.

cheers

The design is cloned from the many Swift like designs you'll find here.
I don't have finished plans at this time, but will see what I can put together and post here.

Yes, will be waiting to see it. The wing looks easy to build, let us know any difficulties you had.
