LOOK MOM! TEN THUMBS!

darkseide - The mustang motor is where I was heading next.

minnieflyer - honestly it dont fly all that much different. slightly more drag, but nothing like the floats a few posts back would be. And you can see in the vid's that one still had some go.

I will have to upgrade the landing gear though, If you dont "grease it in" you could very well bend the gear.

ungn - the tire/wheel combo weighs 2.14g each so Im still well under 5 grams with the tires and the CF Struts. But I may go back and do that after all the upgrades start weighing her down.

The tundra's didnt even throw the COG off.

How did you install them?

It doesn't appear me to me that the collets are removable on the axle..

Yes and the Champ has a regular Sukhoi motor. Translucent white endbell.

The Mustang Motor has a Black endbell.

I took a small set of side cutters, put them behind the collet and gently pulled.
They popped right off. the inside collets just slid off with no pressure.
Then I put the wheels on and pushed the outside collets back on, with a small drop of thin CA to keep em there.

The collets are easily removable... In fact, they may remove themselves upon landing so that the wheels may unexpectedly experience total freedom.

I'll be putting in my mustang motor soon I hope. Also I hope it's not a dud; there seems to be a lot of bad UMP51 motors; my new suk had one go after 2 flights.

The GWS 5043 prop works well on the Champ. That prop coupled with mustang motor, and Hyperion batts should work very well if one decides to carry a spy cam which I intend to do. Also if one were to have floats that combo would do wonders I bet.

Yes they are, I confirmed with a visual inspection today at the LHS.. they are all under different part numbers, but carry the exact same printing on them..

"130X70"

Also, I picked up the Dubro 150mw wheels today and got them installed after work.. dang she looks the part now!

I was wondering what a higher thrust prop would be, but one that doesn't necessarily increase the pitch speed.. I'm looking to make a big bad bushwacker outta this plane :P

Curious

Bellanca Scout

This is my first attempt at submitting anything to RCGroups. Hopefully there will be an attached photo of my mods to the Champ. I purchased the fuselage with electronics at my lhs. I used the photo of the full size Scout and a free flight plan by Larry Kruse as the basis for this model. It has yet to be flown. There are another pair of struts, exhausts, intake scoop and a few other details before I declare it finished.

Really nice looking job David. What paints did you use and did you spray or brush?
