Pilatus data...
Hi Eric,
The Pilatus is an older kit from 'Modele'(?), 3 or 3.5m, obeechi on foam wings with spoilers installed, FG fus, canopy, and odd hard- ware bits (some maybe missing but canopy frame is there). The tail bits are a little unsure. It looks like there are balsa ribs for the H stab and a chunk of balsa for the rudder.Fin is molded into fuse. IIRC, the wing panels are 6' + and this might be 3.5m +. If this lifts your wings, let me know and I'll get you two in touch. Skies. Jay. |

Also as a long shot you might try getting hold of Carlton, who was the owner of Multiplex USA (Critterbits) before Hitec bought Multiplex.
Just before he closed up shop he still had a B-4 (without spoilers) in his store. maybe he still has it. |

Irsudog,
Yes, I did contact Carlton before the company was sold to Hitec. He said " No more B 4's" However, a Mike Ashley n N.C. said he has a NIB Pilatus B4, Multiplex Mfg., and will sell. I have sent him the money. Holding breath, hope I won't get ripped off. Eric |

My last post may sound strange, as in I do not know Mike Ashley..he is probably a real trustworthy guy..I just get paranoid sending a check in the mail to a person I have never met. A risky thing this exchange.

Pilatus aquisition...
Hi Eric,
I'm glad you found what you were looking for. Did you ever make contact re: the 'Modele' Pilatus? As for feeling paranoid about a purchase, I've found that checking someone's post history, even their eBay feedback, can relieve a lot of stress or warn me off. One guy was sending me great picts of a Hobie Hawk (lots) but he could or would not answer if the wing had been broken.Even the picts seemed to avoid the question. Finally the seller said it was to much work to sell to me. $300-$400 makes me careful if not paranoid also. Fly on. Jay. |

Jay,
I did make contact with "modele Pilatus". Thank you. I have setteled on the Multiplex Pilatus. I know this plane quite well. Had two of them in the past. One lost to battery failure, the other lost (I hate to say it)by turring my back on the slope to pet my dog.( a long story, but that's the short version) This time I am going to glass the wings, and I will not use the carbon spar joiner. Steel only. I had flowen the old Pilatus B4 in up to 50Mph wind with about 20 oz of lead. Talk about wing flex. A great all around slope plane. Looking forward to my third B4..oy. Eric |
