New Product

Turnigy 9X 2.4GHz 8Ch Receiver (V2) - US$ 8.99

Hobbyking also sells Turnigy 9X 2.4GHz 8Ch receivers now: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=12339

Price is US$ 8.99 and that is unbelievably low, I think.

Is this supposed to be a full range Rx? I am surprised that it does not have dual antennas or, lacking that, a satellite Rx although there does appear to be a port on the side for one.

I am not sure about range. Maybe someone in the big Turnigy radio thread here can enlighten you: https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show....php?t=1035575

Edit: You could always ask the Hobbyking Customer Support. There is a link on this page in the Live Online Chat section during opening hours: http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_contactUs.asp

Looks like a nice receiver, they state it is a "full range" receiver too. so it ought to be fine.
But do test it for a while in a old beater plane first, before you commit to something you don't want to crash.
must be popular it sold out about as fast as they got a bunch in.

It is sold as full range and has a balun on the single antenna making it just like the Hitec "BODA" antenna solution.

It has the same plastic case as the V1 Rx which did have a satellite Rx however this one does not and users have reported that there is no socket on the PCB inside that hole in the case.

IMO this crazy low price is intended to seed the market with this system to it can gain some credibility. Later the price will probably go back up close to the (still very low!) $20 mark.

I don't know for sure but for most of these systems:

a) Put the bind plug on the Rx and power it on
b) Press the bind button on the Tx module and turn on the Tx
c) Wait for various LEDs to light up or change colour/stop blinking.
d) Take finger off bind button
e) Turn off power to Rx (and sometimes Tx)
f) Remove bind plug from Rx

Check the polarity of the power connection from the ESC. If it's reversed, no light.

I missed the light when I first bound mine, but the servos connected to the receiver responded right away.
It's buried in the center of the receiver and I could only see it looking straight down from the top.

Is this V2 receiver compatible with the original Turnigy TX?

Is Turnigy TX V2 compatible with Hobby King 2.4 receivers?

In other words, are V1 and V2 compatible?

Not as far as anyone can tell so far and it seems unlikely.

Did already try both ways, no difference.Strange thing is servo does not seem to get any power at all. I'll have to open it up to see which connection(s) is (are) missing...

edit: It's working now, I have seen the light.... The only thing I did different was turn TX off and then back on again after removing the bind plug...., could also be that the receiver battery was too low in voltage...

After binding procedure, you must turn off both TX and RX before operation begins.
