Most of these things wander a bit, especially in active air. #3 was not bad for tracking. #8 requires a bit more attention. #10 felt really steady, but then again it was very calm wintertime air. It should be a good year of racing with a wide range of models to pick from.

Now which one do I race today???
Be carefull as they might add a rule indicating that we can't change planes over the course of the contest Man three different designs and five flying examples - man Greg has been one busy dude over the last year and a half.
Thumbs up!!!!! This is not making my life easy any more. Too many choices now

Rds

I went with the RDS from IFR Machine Works. High quality product that works. The installation was not very difficult, really no more difficult than a top drive. One thing to watch out for is to bias the pockets a little outside to leave clearance to sweep the wipers in. The surfaces are a little tighter than the top drive on my Pike Perfect and center very well. No flutter was observed at all. Not much to see once it is finished. It looks exactly like the drawing on the Supra plans.

Installed the GPS, vario, receiver, switch harness, total energy probe. I put tape wipers on the wing surfaces to cover the gaps. They may stay or go depending on whether they stay down or not. Added the fillet under the stab. Glued and mounted the hatches over the wing. All that is left is cosmetic paint and to program more flight modes. Planning to fly again after the TD contest on Sunday, this time with the vario. With the vario, correct flight modes and mixes I will see if I can hold my own against the 4m TD ships.

Philip Kolb sent me a well thought out concept for 5 flight modes that looked difficult but was no problem for the SD10G. I got the whole thing done in one evening including putting the vario trigger on my custom button on the back for DLG launches. The tail mount is done and feels much stiffer with more contact area. A bit of wet sand, paint, and ballast and we are ready to race. Will try another flight at the local TD contest using the vario this time.

Took the plane out for over an hour today and passed around the transmitter. Handling is superb, thermals out almost like a TD plane, and even empty top speed looks quite fast. Tracks dead straight with no tendency to wander in speed mode. Wanting to race this one really bad.

Came out just under 9 lbs, will be needing a chunk of lead.

That is gorgeous, Greg! That wing is definitely related to the PP. You are an incredible modeler!

The new plane actually handles better than my Pike Perfect. It's so good I will work backwards and revisit the Pike Perfect setup to see what is missing.

all you need to do now is put a skeg on it and fly it in TD

Put more time on it with full ballast. This plane is very fast. I flew up against an Icon2 and pulled away like it was standing still. Banged some pylon turns and it was silent, with fantastic energy retention. Thermalling in light air was a bit tough but I could still hang with the J ships if I used the vario. Can't wait to race. More pics here.

The chrome trim Monokote on the LE really works well.

Added 2 mil plastic wipers over the aileron gaps. Came out very nice. Will do the flaps tomorrow. This is the way to go for bagged wings.
