Ground effect vehcile
I scratch built this vehicle based on films i watched of other designs on youtube. It is a bit long 1000mm x 70mm (full length of the white foam board I used). It can do a stable flight but lacks in maneuverability so I need alot of space to fly it.

The main thing is that the front wing needs to be at a higher angle than the rear one, the opposite of what you have now. A suggested CG position was around the trailing edge of the front wing. Never experimented with tandem wings myself so can't help out more but that may be a good starting point. Quote:
May have seen the video on youtube already but here is a bixel build I done a few years ago. It was a lot more successful that my other recent bixel attempt here. I think the main thing is keeping it close to parallel with the ground rather than sitting up steep on the floats/skids. Also try extending the skids forwards past the leading edge to get the contact point further forward, mitigates the tendency to dig the nose in from the drag. I've not got any WIG projects on the go anymore, lack the space to run them properly. Still trying some interesting stuff with hovercraft on the other thread. |

I built a second one following all intel I could find but never got into ground effect. The tandem is fast gliding on the skids but no more. Maybe it is just too heavy or too slow? It is fun and welcome deviation nevertheless

If you keep the rear mounted motors, lower them as much as possible, if you could get the blades just above the top surface of the rear wing that would be good. Maybe also add in some down-thrust. There's a really delicate balance to keeping the nose down enough in flight so it doesn't flip back, but not so much that it prevents the nose lifting off completely. |

If not successful, then I would try either a bixel style or something like this https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show...4&postcount=13 Thanks for the guidance and encouragement |

With my tandem, I found that using 2 different airfoils helped keep the stall speeds different, the high lift wing in the front has a lower stall speed, so the nose will keep up. It also lifts first but carries more weight than the rear. It seemed to work well on pavement but never got very high in flight. The front wing has more angle of attack than the rear the rear is very low, maybe 2 degrees, the front is more like 6.
Mine had wheels to lower the starting friction, but they only held it up off the ground a few mm. Here is an on board video:
Feel free to ask about it if you need additional information. Derrik |

i like the Bixel design except that the weight needs to be far forward to fly properly i hope u develop tis further and make larger models for water testing. maybe a small fixed canard close to the wing root at about 10 degrees dyhedral may help it to maintain height in turns. |
