Gold Wing RC SBACH-342 50CC

Hello: I just picked up the 50CC GW SBACH-342 & will be converting to Electric. I'll be using the following equipment.

Motor: Hyperion Z-5045-18 & 22 X 10 Zoar Prop (3200) watts max on 12S
Turnigy Sentilion 100 Amp HV ESC
2 6S 25C Turnigy 5000Mah lipo packs
5 Power HD 1501 MG servos

Its one very nicely made ARF & construction looks solid.

Great looking bird !
Did a quick search as for a price & source but all appeared to be off shore--would you mind sharing your cost & source ?
Whls & pants seem a bit dainty---maybe not for grass ??

Guess I found a source--Red Wing RC---waiting for a quote

That is a great looking plane. I really like the lines of it. I also would be quite interrested in what the cost is for the airframe.

EDIT: Looked it up, not a bad price at all! might have to get me one to have for when I get home from Afghanistan!

You might want to reconsider those HD servo's. I've seen two planes with those servo's have flight control problems. Both had issues with centering under load. Replaced them with Hitec servo's and had no issues. Jerry.

Hi Jerry: Its seems to be a hit & miss with the Power HD's! Ive seen them perform flawlessly & have some issues. I really haven't decided which servo's to use yet, I just have 5 of these in the shop!! Thanks: Joe

Yardbee, I am almost done with an electric conversion of a Sbach 50cc from a different manufacturer and had also looked at this one.
I've used the same motor as you have with 12S 5000mAh li-po. Would you consider a bigger diameter prop than the 22x10?

Good luck!

Hi Guys: Thanks for all of the really nice Compliments!!! Drstillpatient: I am using the same power setup on on a 87" yak-54 only because Hyperion specs recommended that prop size. I have read where a 24 X 12 was also being used with good results for short periods of time. I am willing to try different props, any suggestions?
Thanks: JP

Yardbee, go with what provides you the performance and thrust. I've only used the Xoar 24x10 and Xoar 24x12 electric props on this motor and its been happy. How is the vertical with the 22x10 prop on the Yak and what flight times do you get? If you get good performance with a 22x10 prop on the Yak with its large round cowl, then this Sbach should have no problems at all.
Any pics of the interior of the plane?
Cheers!

I would also like to se the interior of the plane. How does the quality compare to the more expensive Pilot ARF. Then there is one from "GuiLin XinYing FeiXiang Aircraft Model Co." as well for cheaper. Anybody know about that one?

Drstillpatient: The 22 X 10 Yields me 3100 watts (specs are 3200 watts for 10 seconds max) & plenty of vertical, and with some throttle management I get a solid 8 minutes of IMAC style of flying. The 24 X10 is well worth a try, I am also going to give a 3 bladed Xoar 22 X 8 prop a try. It would sure look wicked on the nose. I'll get some pictures of the interior posted today. Cheers: JP

Just wondering what type of hardware it comes with. Is it the fiberglass horns like the 30cc planes and is there a tunnel for a canister muffler?

Cheers Dale
