OK - Today was the 3rd attempt at a maiden flight. Lots of issues but finally did get it in the air and trimmed. Again, lots of down trim. And the retracts - well seems like they are better suited to a paved runway. Atually good enough for the take-off, but I was pretty concerned that the rough turf might be too hard on them, so I pulled the gear in.
The flight was not bad at all once it was properly trimmed.
I'm running a 10 x 6 Master Airscrew prop with the Webra 50. Certainly has enough speed, but - no surprise - could use more.
Am thinking about using a 9 x 8 or maybe 9 x 10 if I can find one.
Any thoughts on propr size for real speed???
And my next possibility will be to install a performance pipe which should increase the R's another 1k.
I suppose all this takes some tweaking and testing.
But it sure can get outts sight in a hurry!
Thanks all for your thoughts.
Oh and as for the video - actually took a amera - could not find anyone to take the photos.
Maybe next time.......
