High alpha?

Keep reading the phrase high alpha in respect to torque rolls etc but can't quite get what it means or the derivation. Any one care to share the love here?

Alpha is simply engineering speak for angle of attack. (see all the A's?)

A model flying at high alpha is simply flying at a high angle of attack.
