Fly, crash, rebuild.

I would estimate more time cleaning and maintaining than flying time, perhaps at a 2-1 ratio.
Indeed thomas, quiet the expedition in that case. Water takes everything to a new level and weight. I have a couple boats with 3 & 4S setups, sealed receiver box and marine escs and waterproof servos. Servos are Traxxas, but big, too big, for ailerons and flaps but perhaps a choice for the rudder steering.

I do a thorough rinse but its mostly aluminum. Less corrosion than steel and better grade stainless than in a plane.
Thanks for the ideas. I'll have to percolate more on this one.

Hi all

I had some advance making ICON-A5 by DZ hobby. I built in head lamps and fog lamps.
Small key-chain LED lights are useful as its brightness is enough even in the day light.
Yellow LEDs are good choice as fog lamps.
Now itís time to make more.

At last I finished fuselage's modificatiion.
The last work of the hull was to modify main steps.
I find a question whether I should replace dark colored canopy with a clear one or not.

Sorry reply late.

I've mentioned about the mixiting programs in the other thread "Small Icon A5 from HobbyKing-1.09 meter (NOT Guanli)" though.

I answer in this thread too.

I found the s288 ICON-A5 has a tendency that when you cut a motor power suddenly from horizontal flight, it’s inclined to nose up. The tendency is not big though, it’s a little difficulty to descend the plane without any control. If you are accustomed to fly R/C airplane, you may have elevator down slightly to keep its speed, or to make it to be in a gradual decline.
The Mixing from throttle position to elevator makes control a little easier.
The throttle curve from -100% to -75% has gradual gradient. This range matches to the plane keep a speed and gentle declination to touch down.
You should not to flare just touchdown, or the plane starts porpoise.
The easy avoiding way from porpoise is to power off immediately when the plane has the first touchdown.
Let’s enjoy!

Nice. The issue I have with the Parkzone version is no retracts. Which model does have them?

Where can you find a place to buy the 1800mm version other than the obvious HK, which is out of stock for weeks/months now and other overseas spots where you pay more for shipping than the actual plane.

I found 2 locations so far but both are out of stock....there has to be another place that has these....someplace!!!!!!

At last, I got a clear canopy.
Big ICON A5 from DZ hobby, selling by Hobby King now, has a big canopy. The original built-in one is too dark to show cockpit.
Maybe everyone wants to replace a clear one. At last, I finished it today. Making a clear canopy was terribly hard job.
For me, try this one was beyond my boundary, but I wanted clear one cordially.
Since last autumn I imagined how to make it. It took about half year to finish the clear canopy.
Next I want to make the cokpit.

flight test from the land

At last, I made a test flight from the land. ďThe flight testĒ means my ICON has not finished yet, mainly around the cockpit.
Its elevator trim was cruel at first. I had to push elevator stick up halfÖ

In some way, I finished to check retruct gears and flaps those worked well.

The next flight test is from the water.

Still constructing cockpit.
I made two rack housings of instrument panel in my ICON.
At first, I made positive die from balsa block.
The housing was made of 0.5 mm thick PVC sheet.
Using heat gun, the sheet transformed into rack housings.
Then colored and cut, rack housings were finished.
Attached on dashboard it, and also fit a motor cowl, my ICON looked as if the model had finished.
Iím going to fly it from the water in the next chance.
