I donít pay attention to any type of servos including water proof type.
Thereís no way to use servos, or other electronics, on seaplaneís wing without waterproof.
This is an example.(ndf s288)
I use a clear polypropylene adhesive tape used in packing and a modified acrylic silicone glue that has the flexibility after it cures.
After covering grooves for servos and wires with the tapes, I coat all the end of the tapes with the glue dilute.

Good luck!

Thank you Shige. In fact i had water proofed all of my servoes. i dis-assembled all of them and used silicon grease to fill the servos internals with it. i tested it in the water and sound like ok.

Thanks

My Icon A5 (the large version from HK) came in with only 4 no name servos as expected from all of the complaints. The box was damaged badly but plane was fine. There were other misc parts missing-it looked like the parts bags were cut open with a box knife before shipping because nothing was in the bags and were scattered in side the box. Parts probably fell out of the large holes on the box due to shipping to the USA from china.
What servos are you guys using i this plane?
I was planning on using a metal gear servo for the rudder and nose wheel. But wasn't sure a small servo would work. I have 3 of the hobby king 996 mg servos i was thinking about using for rudder and retracts. Will this add too much weight?
I was going to replace the front landing gear with a robarts 602 unless somebody has a better idea.
I was going to use 2 3S LiPos on each side of the servo tray for better weight distribution and CG.
Thanks,
Wade

What size batteries are you guys using? I used a 2x Zippy 3000 5s and the plane seem very heavy. I had a very hard time getting her up to plane without sucking up a lot of water in the prop. She seemed to plow under the water. I was using a Turnigy 42-50 motor and a 10x5 3 bladed prop.

Anyone have a good source for the smaller 1.09 meter Icon from DZ model, besides Hobbyking? I do not care for the ugly markings HK added, or their choice in electronic parts for the PnP version.

I'm using 2 of 2200 MAH 3S connected on sieres and it works pretty good. the plane not heavy, takes off water easly and glide at half the throttle. i'm using the stock motor and prop. with 60A ESC. this set up is good for me. by the way another advice, water does affected my electronics. the plane get out of control fiew times when the receiver get wet.
solution is to spray it with corrosionx. it water proofs electronics very well and then i don't have that proplem any more.

Maybe check out the Skyguide BUILD blog here about experience with the LARGE ICON A5. This model is from HoobyKing, but originally from http://www.dzhobby.com/

Cg

Guys, I got the small one from HobbyKing:
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...dProduct=17108
And apparently these come with no manual...
Does anybody know where the CG should be located?
Thanks!

I'm afraid this thread is on the larger one. Have you searched on line for a manual? The large on has the CG in the forward 25% of the wing. If that helps.

My s288 pink version's CG is 35mm from leading edge.
I think CG-position is not so sensitive, you may treat this model as a trainer.

Just read through the whole thread. I've loved this bird since the first time i saw it. The HK 1800 seem like the best rendition of the model so far (other than the few inconveniences of gear strength and servo replacement.) This will be my next investment.

Hey Shigetyann, one more question. Your video refers to a "fixed mixing", could you please explain what channels you mixed? rudder/ail? throttle/elev?
Thanks!
