Yes the wing can be removed. The aileron servo is glued into the centre of the wing, so you'l have to disconnect it from the RX, and feed it back through the wing saddle. It'd be a PITA to do the first few times until you either got good at it or designed a mod to make it easier.

The plane comes in a EPS box, which has slots for the main components, and a spre of EACH - yes, a spare wing, fuselage and horizontal! The spare items aren't fitted out, but that would not be diffiicult. The box would be a great transport box for the plane to leave in the car, and would fit two complete planes (perhaps a powered one and a slopie!).

Brought the plane to work today .... guess what I'm planning at lunchtime??!

Flight Report

Just got back form the local park. Windless today. Took some videos - my camera sitting on the ground, so they're not very good. Nonetheless....

Flew pretty straight, right off the launch, and gained height easily.
Rolls are 'sloooow', so I want to loosen, stiffen and probably lengthen the ailerons.
Not enough power for unlimited vertical (800 mAHr Flightmax 2S), but should be possible with a lighter battery. I'll probably just go for a bigger motor.
Glides very well when wings level, but loses height quickly in a turn.
Straight and level flight at full throttle pretty good - will quickly cover the length of a football field.
Turns quite nicely - I did most of the flight at low level, and did not have any trouble keeping a low, fast line in figure-8's at head-height.
Flight time aqpprox 9 minutes, with 3/4-full throttle for most of the time, but these are from the first charge of teh Flighmax's, so it'll probably get better.

I launched the plane probably 10 times, and it flew out easily. I hand-caught the plane probably half-a-dozen times - easy to line up the approach, and the glide is quite good.

As for FPV, I think that there is not quite enough power to fly a FatShark/ImmersionRC 10mw Tx and 922 camera on anything less than full throttle. For a lighter setup, you could probably get away with the stock power system. I'll test these theories.

I got some video, which I'll edit and put up tonight.

How about the stalling characters? The MPX Fox tip stalls badly so I ordered this one hoping more gentle stall...

Chances, the CoG is between the pushrod tube and the spar. To fit the 800mAHr battery, I needed to dig a little bit of foam out under the saddle - no big deal. The 500s should be fine, though the Flighmax batts appear to be thicker than other brands, so you may need to go digging too.

As for tipstall (yeah, I've got a fox) its is very good. no 'tendencies' at all in my 20 minutes of flying today.

Videos being processed.

Chances, you're going to love the extra room in the cockpit for the FPV gear - miles more space than in the MX Fox.

Video up tonight - I promise ..... but I dont promise that it'll be that entertaining

It was impossible to drag enough good footage from my stationery camera to capture the performance of this little plane. Sorry guys.

Instead I've done a small extract of some launching and catching. Really cant see much of the plane, but it's easy enough to launch, lap and catch without much effort.

(1 min 38 sec)

(who will try to get some 'hat cam' videos)
