HK Mini-Swift

Postman delivered a new HobbyKing Mini-Swift today, plus a fistful of 500 mAHr Flightmax Lipos.

Build took all of 2 hours, and included a couple of mods:
- Removed bungee hook.
- Dug out cavity for battery.
- 2oz glass the fuselage from the rear of the wing saddle forward using the rubbed CA technique.
- Added some stripes.
- errr, that's about it!

Weighs in at 150 grams, which is a little heavy, but there's plenty of power from the stock setup, so it should be fun and speedie.

Maiden tomorrow.

Roger

Kahnx,
Thanks for the impressions and pics. It looks good... I love the stripes.
So would you say it's between the Fox and the Merlin for size?

Is it actually EPP (rough) like theproduct description tells us or is it smooth EPO?

Oh no, Roger is showing signs of comming over to the dark side, scalie (welll sort of) and electric. Next thing i'll read is him and Mick heading down to PP for a fly with all the other electric lads. Looks cool Rog.

LOL!, Jason - a long way from that yet....

It's moulded EPP, smooth, with the occasional injection dimple. Pretty strong.

Maiden today - I'll try to take some video, but may not have the time. Report tonight.

Cheers

I saw one of these fly at my field yesterday. It flew stably, quickly, and with great agility, even in a slight wind (5-7mph). The foam was generally smooth. I don't know why the prop doesn't fold all the way back, but like the OP said it doesn't appear to hinder safe landing.

I'll probably pick up one of these on my next order from HobbyKing.

Many have tried to turn him to scale and he has remained un-relenting in his facination of "sport" models.....

Hey Rog, are you thinking of FPV for this one?? a bit of a fox glider replacement?

thanks

Crashing on a budget.

If you don't mind waiting a couple extra days to get your planes from HK, then you can use the Air Parcel shipping option rather than EMS.

You save about $1.20 on shipping and you get an extra 500g shipping weight for free. In fact, you can get two kits shipped for the same price as a single one via EMS.
