Norwegian runabout

Having admired some of the build threads on classic woodies here on the forum I thought I would post some pictures of model I have recently completed. The boat is a Norwegian designed 30' runabout from 1932. It's built from the original designers plans to a scale of 1/10. The model is scratchbuilt except from some fittings that comes from Wet Goose.

Steggen that is absolutly one beautiful model. You did a super job on the coloring and the clear finish. Maybe you have few pics of the model under construction and maybe one or two of the real boat.
It's certainly a classic design but different than most of our Chris Crafts and Garwoods ect. Very nice design in my opinion and one that is well worth making a model of. Is your model RC or static? I'll bet with a good electric motor in her she would fly.
Also welcome to this forum. There are lots of people interested in the classic runabouts and it's always interesting to see what boatbuilders are doing in other countries. Thanks for posting your work. Pete

STEGGEN- Welcome to the forum. Glad to have you aboard. The model to the runabout looks great. What is the designers name of the hull. It look like it is a take off on a Hacker 30í Triple cockpit design. It is amazing how many of the designs of different runabouts manufactured are influenced by the designers of the 20ís and thirdís.

Great looking model. If she is to be R/Cíed what are you using for power.

Thanks for the nice comments.
I don't have many pictures taken during construction. I have included one that shows the basic frame structure. The model is RC but I have not had the chance to test it yet. It's not a very fast boat so I powered it with a standard 540.
The original was designed by Norway's most prolific motorboat designer Richard Furuholmen. He designed around 1000 boats during his lifetime, but not all where built. As for this design I don't know if it was ever built. Furuholmen spent some years in the US where he worked for Tams, Lemoine & Crane. He was very influenced by American designers but was not a big fan of hard chine hulls. As you will see from the pictures of my boat it's a round bilge design more suitable for the somewhat rough conditions we have here in Norway. Most of his plans are available for the Norwegian Maritime Museum in Oslo.
If you wan't to see more of his designs please have look at the web-site of our "full size" boat club:
that also includes two boats I own together with my brother, Steggen a Furholmen design from 1939: and Sisk II a Arthur Holt design from 1936:

Most of those boats looks very similar to what the swedish boatdesigner C.G Pettersson did at about the same time. Similar lines, and probably the same inspiration.
Some "Pettersson boats" can be found here.
But my favourite designer/builder is Gideon Forslund and his "Ess" boats. Did I hear someone say Chris Craft??

The designers of this period was very much influenced by each other. Though I feel there is quite difference between the Swedish and Norwegian boats of the period.

I also like the designs of the Forslund (half) brothers. Here is my favorite the 11m (36') long "Melodi" from 1939. The boat is for sale if you are lucky enough to have 2,3 mill SKr to spend....... Would make a nice RC model.
