How About a New Thread for just SketchUp

I feel that SketchUp is one of the simplest and most useful tools out there. I think it deserves a thread for its users.

What cha think?

I think its a great Idea too.

I was just on another thread where somebody was asking for a "PARTS BIN". That would be cool for SU users. I know every time I draw something to scale I would post it for others to use. Right now I'm looking for one or two motors and a gyro to drop into a design I'm working on.

Make this happen!

Here's a Sketchup question: say you have your plan drawn out and you are ready to cut parts and build. With the free version, how do you print it out actual size?

The gist of it, is you just set the scale to 1:1 when you print. The current view of what's on screen, is what gets printed. Normally, you would want to print to pdf. You can check out my thread on tile printing to pdf from sketchup. The 1st post is kind of messy, with the added info as we figured more stuff out, but it's all there: https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show....php?t=1201689

I mainly got into sketchup for cnc, so I don't have a big collection of plans. Probably when I am able to cut, I will get more into that. This thread shows two early things I have drawn, with a pdf tutorial: https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show....php?t=1174171 I've only been using SU for a year. Lately, I've been spending my time writing plugins for sketchup. This thread shows some of that, if interested: https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show....php?t=1187023

The surfer dude is designed by kram242. He's got a thread on it:

It flys really well, from the videos I have seen:

7up... now thats what I'm talking about. That is a skilled user of SU! Very Nice. I like the GEEBEE. Did you buy the Pro Version of 7? I'm still on 5. I tried the free ver. of 7 but I went back to 5 because of the export feature is not in Free 7.

Below is my latest design. Split wing pusher jet.

7up under closer inspection... I changed my vote to the Ultimate! That rendered very nicely. Very nice work. got any parts you can post. Servos, motors, etc....

Thanks - Tossitup

Question from a newer Sketchup user (old CAD user).. Been importing DXF formers, etc, and all is going fairly well. So far I haven't found an easy way to 'open up' the lightening holes, or tab slots, that are in the DXF versions of the formers. Do you have to do extrude them one at a time after you extrude the former, or is there an easy way?

Thanks

Don
