Subjective tests between Lawmate and Fox 1.2/1.3Ghz systems.


Actually these subjective tests were done more than a year ago by mmormota in this thread here:

The test was between the Lawmate 500mW and the Inesun 800mW (Fox). I thought I'd bring this old thread up as it makes interesting reading to some that may have missed it. Some other related old threads:

Before BOB these were the threads that led me to use the Fox 1.3Ghz.

okay, not that much info about rx/tx equipment, actually.
gonna get these two sets:

decided to get both as I need two receivers.
any cheap places for getting good small cameras?

Those are Fox combos, although I think the 700mW or 800mW ones will give you better range with the video tx being the same size or smaller. I have the 100mW combo, tx does 1.280GHz without jumper on.

For the 100mW I'm using in my FPV 1/10 4X4 truck driving around the house, so I dont really know what's the max range is like.

Playing around with the jumpers so far I've managed to get:
 1.010G 1.040G 900MHz CH 2,3
 1.080G 1.120G 1.160G 1.200G 1.2GHz CH4,5,6,7
 1.240G 1.280G 1.3GHz CH8,9

Thanks! We're discussing what actual bandwidth and modulation are used for video transmission in 1.2GHz and 2.4GHz bands. Are they basically the same and differ only in frequencies? Some people say, the actual bandwidth in 2.4 gear is 8MHz, while in 1.2GHz and 900MHz the effective bandwidth is somewhat 6MHz. Any experts?

Late reply, but if anyone still needs to know...

The video is 3.5 to 4 mhz.
The audio subcarrier is 5.5 to 6.0 mhz

The total bandwidth is 18 to 20 mhz

I would say total bandwidth (video + audio) is between 5 and 8 Mhz ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PAL ).

That's the AM bandwith, but our Tx's are FM.

I have come to the conclusion

that I would be better off with a lawmate system
rather than a fox system

I wish I new this two years ago when I frst started out with fpv

Pay the extra $ it is well worth it, don't waste your time and money
