Many out there love affordable jets. They
do need their arms and legs in life, don't they? :-)
And size 90 fan F-20 is about just right... midi fan comes to mind.

Somebody said the F-20 is a perfect jet.
And I hope so :-)

but in terms of RC flying, the F-20 has
some very intesting things:

1/ great ducting system with only single Fan :-)
2/ great for some late electric retracts (like Eflight E-retracts)
3/ easy to use flaps...

build it with light wing loading and now we have
a great EDF jet, good looking too :-)

Classic jets rule

as a r/c model the wing thickness has to be fudge a bit to fit gear in them . inlets sems to be a bit small ish for the bigger fans ,but a 90mm should be nice

I did a quick calc on the FSA and inlet area and on a 2m model 110mm fan seems a good fit. a 100- 110 mm fan that generates 5 k of thrust or there abouts is not going to be a killer on packs esc's etc J

I started one a year ago in CAD. Its designed for up to a 90mm fan.

I started a slightly modified prototype in depron off the cad model. Did not change the overall dimensions but cut the fan bulkheads in depron for a 4S system using a SAPAC 64mm fan. Goal was to make a big cheap, lightwieght jet for the prototype and if it flies nice build it out of balsa for 90mm fan.

the proto has retracts, flaps, full flying stabs, no rudder.

will have to find the parts and take some pictures.

A 90mm fan scale F-20 is the big thing that's been
missing for ages in RC flying fields.

What is going on in this world?

Found them parts. Ok maybe I have to finish this project.

The depron fuse finished should be about 60" long if my memory seves me.

Have to clean my garage : )

My thoughts exactly. It seems that there were any number of gassers and turbne versions years ago and maybe everyone just got sick of seeing them. They just don't seem all that viable to convert to EDF so a good purpose bult EDF version should be a winner. I have heard hints that one is very close and i cant wait to see it and if it lives up to expectations, add it to the fleet.

wow, great news.
I hope there is a possibility to use Some electric
retracts on the coming F-20. This airframe is great
for those electric retracts, not tricky like the F-16 or F-18.... and the likes

Thanks.

Great idea Jay, would be very nice to have a 90mm F20! Smartmodel is working on the 120mm version right now, 2 metres long its still a while off yet according to Kin but its coming and I want to stick the new 120mm fan into one

Extremerc did a great video on a 90mm EDF Starmax F-16 with
his power system. But it does not have retracts, tricky though.
The 90mm fan F-20 should be a better candidate when it
comes to installing Electric retracts. The F-5E is also a good one
but its ducting is a real issue for EDF.
