Light and portable, backpack-able AP set

After almost 1year break today I flew under 400gram AUW AP flying wing with modded Panasonic LS85 onboard

The camera's power, shutter, focus, and zoom controlled with Wii Nunchuck
powered by servo ubec

here some pictures shot today, it was very windy, thanks to Wii Motionplus MEMS gyros the plane is fly-able in any weather, today we even tried to induce large drag by attached chunk of foam but it flew like nothing happened

All my wings ( thanks Jeff from mwcores.com !) are foldable

You are truly an amazing pilot. If I tried that with a piece of foam I'd end up with lots of foam. Your wing really flies great. How do you find the c/g when carrying a camera? I bought a Slinger and added 6" in the middle but I'm not sure if that changes the C/G or not.

without stabilizing electronics the plane is useless, I'd crush within 10seconds after takeoff
here is same clip on vimeo (somewhat better quality) - take closer look at elevons. they never stop moving
with gyros CG doesn't matter that much, +/1" OK
Wii MotionPlus keeps flying wing level in high wind (1 min 16 sec)

My plane does miracles
anyone ever tried to tow a flag ?
We celebrate Independence Day here in Israel and my flag was above the rest
because of high drag flying 100gr Panasonic LS85 is easier compared to 40gr flag.

the wing is incredibly stable with the gyros, wing area is comparable to size of the flag but somehow it just flew !

How many gyros do you have on it? And how do you have them mounted?

I used fake Wii MotionPlus (some $10/ea ebay)
it comes with 3-axis gyros but the wing has no rudder so 3rd gyro unused
then I wrote firmware to control the plane with Nunchuck and stabilize the aircraft. What is really special about setup is the way joystick works: further away off center mean less gyro gain so you can do rolls and loops just like sports plane and if the stick moved little the plane holds position.

I made my own mixer/stabilizer using lowest cost parts.
you don't have to know coding and solder tiny pieces
just use whatever flight controller meant for quadrocopter - configure it for flying wing and enjoy. Gyro, receiver,PID controllers all should be one device
separate mixer and rate gyro won't be as fast and can cause oscillation if outside some narrow speed range. My controller adjust gyro gain automaticaly, there are no pots/trimmers to play with, all wing sizes work the same , plug-n-play.

tedrobphoto,
Would you pay $50 for the stabilizer ? that's small board with PPM input, elevon mixer and MotionPlus.

Today was windy so I could hover the wing (under 500g AUW incl.Panasonic LS85)

You do make it look easy. I'd like to have anything that flies like that!
