Yeah, ok , so you've also built Lead's Yak55 but I would have thought by now that you would have designed your own 3D bird, flight tested/crashed, published plans with full build log and be on page 20 by now.
Anyway, my Yak is prettier than yours, so there
Sometimes the lure of a kit or even ARTF can be too much. The HK deal looks a good one and it sure flys great. Or at least you make it fly great.
I've got my eye on this new little beaut

Also have my newly built Cutlass, post 329 https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show...0#post14985563. All ready for the maiden but its blowing hard and chucking it down at the moment so rains stopped play

Mate I've got to agree yours is better looking.... That little hotliner looks like a Multiplex Fox but more refined with the gear setup. Looks good value. Virtually get 2 for the price of one. Your Cutless looks GREAT as well. Fingers Crossed for the maiden .

Just an update. Since its winter here and when I have the opportunity to fly the ground is always wet. Yep, the driest Continent on Earth, who'd a thought . Even when its Sunny the dew on the ground in the mornings is always there. Bring back Summer I say. Anyway, so to keep the electronics dry I fitted some Under carriage. Still flys as well as it did with no under carriage and stays dry after landing. Extra weight is about 12grams.

Where do you get the 2mm carbon strips that you used for wing re-inforcement?

Also, how to you compare EPO with EPP?

Hi CitizenKane, mate I got the Carbon Rod from my local Hobby Store, HC has it as well I think. A cane or wooden skewer would do the same to stiffen the wing up.

EPP I reckon is the better than EPO for crash ability. In saying that, I have found the EPO Hawk to be pretty tough so far. I'm not easy on my models .

ok, flew mine today and it flew well.... carbon rod mod as per boxhead, hxt 9 and 5 servos. 800mah 2 s battery...

few questions though. does anyone have any down trust or right thrust? I've mounted mine straight as I've read that down thrust makes it harder to hover. Also has anyone found the rudder to be quite loose? I think the horn holes are too big.

My CG is at 56mm... still finding it hard to hover, but then I am only learning.

anyone tried 3 cell on this plane?

Micman, I normally have 2-3 degrees right thrust and 0 down thrust. I read here on RCG and have done it myself, use a drop of CA on the control horn hole with the control rod attached. Let it go off. When powering it up again and moving it it will free up, the CA closing the gap.Bingo, No Slop.

56-58mm is a good place to start with the CG. You will have to move it around to suit your style of flying. Its a personnal thing. As for 3 cells, I have no experience with this but have read that using 3 cell with this motor you will get more grunt but the life of the motor will be cut short and probably burn out.
